If you want excellent speakers buy Bose ones, otherwise it's basically Sony or Creative if you want PC ones ;)

Bose.....hahahahahahhaahha!!!

Sorry, but Bose charges way too much for consumer level speakers. For a little bit more than what they charge, you can get high end speakers that sound MUCH better.

ya sure, louder sure, imo Bose speakers have clarity at all volumes, I haven't been able to get either the Radio or the system to distort at high volume.

and for a grand for the system I'm damm impressed compared to the crap people buy as separates thinking they're wonderful, (it also doesn't look like a stereo either :D )

the main thing that effects your speakers isn't the actual speaker anyway it's the distance from the CD Laser to the speaker and the resistance/ quality of the wiring

bose speakers cost way to much for their worth, i stuck with the sony towers cause they only cost $255 for the biggest ones and they are fuggin loud. plus i got a fat 300watt 15" JBL sub so my towers can take it easy on the bass

WTF? Bose? Sony? Typical 'general consumer' brands.

If you want some *real* speakers, you're gonna get yourself a Klipsch ProMedia or a MidiLand speakerset (especially the latest surround kits).

Now THAT are speakers. Clear tones, pumping basses. No Sony/Philips/Pioneer/Bose crap. Get some real stuff.

UNF!

:inlove: MidiLand :inlove:

Bose speakers tend to fall short in many areas when compared to better speakers. Bose is one of the better "general consumer" speakers, but any serious audio person would laugh at them.

Go to some DVD/home theater/audiophile site and ask if they would go for Bose over B&W. Be sure to wear a flame retardant suit by the way ;)

And why worry about cable length when you are running a digital connection from the CD player to the receiver? :)

OP
sytaylor
You guys are serious bout yer sound ancha ;) damn until this week i had one working 40W speaker

and? what would be the point in that, B&W sounds better to them, and Bose sounds better to me, what do you expect from Bose? their speakers are tiny, and the thing that bose has been able to do is make speakers that sound great to the average person not the major audiophile, that's their strength, a major audiophile is going to spend a fortune on everything as a consumer I'm going for what sounds best.

The thing is, Bose is so expensive, that for a tiny amount more, you can get a much better high end speaker.

Example:

pi_am15.jpg

Bose's best home theater speaker set, price $1,300 US.

602_Black_Stand_Spec.jpg

B&W DM602-S3...$600/pair US * 2 pairs(front/rear)= $1,200 US.

pic11lcr3blackgrilleoffhori.jpg

B&W LCR3 Center speaker...$200 US.

sawm40.jpg

Sony SA-WM40 subwoofer...$180 US.

Totals:

Bose-$1,300 US
B&W-$1,580 US

Now, for a mere $280 more you can get a MUCH better, and bigger sound. Just look, the B&W speakers are 7" Kevlar cones, the Bose are about 3" paper cones...

With Bose you are buying a conevntional speaker with a pricey nameplate.

you missed something, size :p

anyway that's what's sitting in my house, I don't want separate speakers etc... my point is that Bose are ideal for the consumer, they produce simple products which for my ears, and for at least 90% of the population's ears, sounds great, they won't hear the difference, the market for B&W is completely separate

It's like telling someone to sell their PS2 to buy a Gamecube, they're essentially the same products (they both play games) but they're developed for different markets

the same thing applies in that the US gets mini disc player in Lime Green and Blue while Europe only gets it in blue and Japan gets both colours plus orange and purple aswell.

The game console example doesn't exactly work though. With consoles you have to buy games specific to the system. With speakers, the CD's you have will work on anything.

I've included a new picture of my setup, with every updated.
