okay ive had this emulator for about a month now and i have one game that i can't seem to get to work. Marvel Vs Capcom 2 is the game and i can't seem to get the game to get past the Dream Cast logo at start up.

now heres the part that is wierd i get no error messages from chankast but i do get one from microsoft tat says..." chankast.exe has encountered a problem and need to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

if you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.

Please tell Microsoft about this problem."...

and it gives me the options :
1) Debug
2) Send Error Report
3) Don't Send

i really don't know whats wrong with it and would appreciate the help.
i don't think its a bad rom but if it is could someone hint at it, because i downloaded it from a torrent site.

thanks for any help

if this is the only game that doesnt work, out of a collection of images. then it sounds like the image is bad. try a different cdi ,or maybe the utopia boot disk might help.

ohhh im sorry... i mean to say it is the only ISO i have right now. and it takes hours to download one ISO for dream cast. so i really can't troubleshoot with other games...cause i don't own anyothers.

i have another question as well.

can i put a Dreamcast game i own into my computer and use the emulator to play it?

Original DC games won't work on Chankast becuase the PC can't read the GD-Rom.
What Operating System do you have and is the game selfboot?

Well for my OS i have Windows XP profensional.
SP1 but im downloading SP2 right now

As for the game being a selfboot... i don't know if it is, if self boot means it starts on its own after i mount the image(cdi) on the virtual drive than no. i have to press the Run button to start the game. What does Self Bootable mean?

i use Daemon Tool first then i used Alcohol 120% to mount the image.

okay i recently downloaded another game Air Force Delta today and it still does the same thing as it does when i try and play Marvel Vs Capcom 2.
the farthest i get is the Dreamcast logo at start up then it crashes and gives me the same error.

conclusion : i have now tried to run two game(cdi) images using two diffrent virtual drives. i get the same error on both images...
so is it a problem with my emulator? i can't seem to get it to work.

my computer Specs are :

Intel Pentium 4 2.40GHz
448mb RAM
30Gb HD with 20Gb Free

My video card is unknow because i have no idea what it is. it the stock video card on my laptop. but it can play Warcraft and Battle Field 1942 excelent, so i think it can handle Marvel Vs Capcom2 if i could just get it to run.

Oh yesss... i don't know if this helps but when the game loads and the Dreamcast logo plays the color of the spiral is blue. that not normal is it?

Self boot mean that if you put the disc into your real dreamcast, it would actually play. Chankast right now require your disc to be self bootable. If you run the emulator and it show analog cd (See image below) then the disc is not self bootable. The blue swirl mean that Bios is from a PAL Dreamcast(Europe).

hey cid that picture of the CD is what i get when i try and play the AirForceDelta Image. It also says the Game is not compatiable with the AVI cable currently used by your system. and when i switch the cable type to the NTFS the game just crashes and gives me the microsoft error i get with marvel vs capcom2.

As for the Marvel Vs Capcom2(The main game i want to run) It doesn't give me the CD picture that you have thier. it just crashes after the blue Dreamcast logo at start up and the Chankast window autimatically closes with the error that i have been talking about.

the self boot thing i left my Dreamcast Console back home so i can't test my ISO's in a real Dreamcast.

If you want to attach a picture, under post reply click on the "manage attachment" button then upload your picture. For non selfboot game, you could either follow the instruction on Exoskeleton's post to make it self bootable or you could use a Utopia disc to self boot the game. Can post the size of ur bios, flash files, and the MVC2 iso? maybe u have a corrupt bios.

Here are my stats:
DC_Bios: 2,097,152 bytes
DC_Flash: 131,072 bytes
MVC2: 756,011,994 bytes

okay i recently downloaded the Exoskelton thingy and i used it to make my MVC2 cdi selfbootable. i then used Dameon's virtual drive and tried to play it using chankast but when the dreamcast logo finished its little dance i got a new error that said ioControl.
whats up with this error?

You could either burn the iso to a cd-r and the game will "work" or you could switch back to daemon tool 3.29. Personally I would just waste a cdr.

okay i tried burning it to a disc already and it gives me the same error. i just found out that the iso i downloaded is a selfbootable game. and that using the Exoskeleton thing was a waste of time. so far i have asked other ppl on other forums and they say the image i downloaded should work because they have it working. i downloaded from suprnova.org "[DC] Marvel Vs Capcom2 selfboot" i think that was the name of the torrent. any way so im thinking its got to be my BIOS because the chankast i downloaded was from Chankast and i have tried the other versions as well, and they give me the same error. so im going to look for an english BIOS and flash, untill then you guys can help in anyway you think helps.

Just Another Wacko ;)
You should find out the name of your video card and update it's drivers. This should fix the error.

Note: Use the first MVC2 image that you have, not the one that you created with exoskeletor's program.

You can still try the exoskeleton method with that Delta game. That game should be non selfboot if it show an analog cd on Chankast. You can find information about your graphic card by going to
Control Panel->Display->Settings->Advanced->Adapters.
See Pics below:
