New application of PJ64

Hey everyone, I thought up a new application of the PJ64 emu and wanted to explain it to someone who may be able to help me with the idea.

I mailed an explanation to Smiff with the address listed on his site but it seems he isn't using that address anymore. If he, or anyone else involved with PJ64 would like to hear my idea please give me your e-mail addresses, or if you have Smiff's address and care to give it to me I promise not to give it out, I'm sure that he would be interested in what I have to say.

Thank you for your help, you can reply to [email protected]

Why don't you post your idea here?
Anyway Project 64 is discontinued (unless Smith and Jabo change their minds) so Smith probably won't respond.

If you are a coder and would like to implement a (decent) feature(s) to Project64 and have done using the PJ64 1.4 source, then say so, and perhaps they will grant permission to the fabled 1.5 source. The developers have indeed discontinued the project, but anyone can modify the 1.4 source, even port it to another OS if they want to...

This is all extremely unlikely however!

Thanks a lot guys, actually my idea has to do with applying an N64 emulator to hardware. I haven't used an N64 emulator lately, this idea just came to me for some reason, it could use any 64 emu. Is there another emu that is still being developed that you would reccomend? I haven't been paying attention to any of the others lately.

Thanks again.

I haven't slept anything this night but you want to create a new nintendo 64 by making new hardware for the emulator to run on, sounds like a stupid idea..:p

How do you want to do this ? With a barebone-PC-System (its small enough for a console) ? It WILL be expensive to buy the parts , and a lot of hard work to program an extra OS for that piece......

Or perhaps he means make one of those cabinet things which people like to make (the reason why guys post occaisonally saying something like "I can't get PJ64 to work with my KDE Super-Random Frontend")

Otherwise I'm not too sure! :p

Or we could do the unconventional approach and buy a used N64, buy uses carts and play with them.. ;-)

Actually bare bone is pretty cheap and what would you need the extra os for? That's why we have emus...

A Barebone + CHEAP ??? A Mid - End one ( Radeon 9600 , p4 2,6 Ghz etc.) costs about 1600 €uros !!!
Aw , that was my mistake i meant makin the emu to a bootable one , that boots like a os and starts with the rom selection screen etc....

Haha, sorry I'm trying to be ambiguous so nobody steals my idea but It's a much simpler concept than the ones you guys are bringing up. This is entertaining :)

So anyway what's another good EMU?! :p

You can always use 1964 0.9.9 for whatever your planning. Matches PJ64's compatibility and is faster and can use any plugin.

Inserting the sourcecode of an emulator into a PCI card won't help much.
Wouldn't it be a better idea applying a N64 to software? With 100% of games playable and 0% graphical errors. And of course it would run on any hardware (that is faster than the N64 itself, of course). Try that.

Like Remote said: stupid!!!

If you worried to people steal your ideas, you shouldn't be asking to get other people ideas, i think that in this area of emulators, everything must be shared.

hey, im actually building up a pc for mame. im also planning on ripping apart my 486 and doing something w/ it.......pacman arcade cabinet?, anyways the pc specs are bear at the moment. p3, radeon 7500, 256mbs of ram, x-arcade pad, 5gb hdd, cdrw drive.....not that great but itll do. id just thought about shring this........however an n64 cab and modded pc. i just dont think thats a good idea until n64 emulation gets more down the road to perfect. you could buy one of those little cube pcs that hook up to ur tv. those things are cool.....

Nemu is the most unique of the emulators; it does not follow Zilmar specs.
Mupen is good for todays standards, but doesnt have Dynamic compiler yet.

I recommend 1964 as Clements mentionned. It is open-souced, and it is soon going to be discontinued (after V1.00 is released I assume sometime this year)

I do not know what your idea is but I hope to hear more about this when it is publicly released. I know this group can be helpful to aide you in your idea. If you want to keep your idea in the dark, you might be making a mistake, but perhaps that is just my thought.
