I've been trying to play jnes online with my girlfriend who is away at college. We can't get the damn gamepad to work, and she already brought one back thinking it was broken.

The thing is that it is recognized in the control panel just fine, and she can map the buttons, but they don't actually do anything when she goes to play the game. She uses a dell laptop, dunno if that matters. I also have the same gamepad (saitek p880) and it works fine for me on Jnes. Even using the software to map keyboard keys to the controller doesn't work for her.

she did download the latest directx. I really need help, anyone, please?

I'll tell you this, if it is recognized and configurable in control panel, then it's not the controller's fault, but rather the emulator's. Maybe yur gf don't know how to configure her emulator?

If she has Windows XP you could remote desktop to her PC. Otherwise you could use another program like Dameware or another remote desktop program to control her pc and walk her through the setup. Remote Desktop on XP may not be the best solution, remote assistance might be better because with Remote Desktop the user on the PC can't see or interact with the remote user. You would need her to invite you or you would need to know the admin account on her PC though for some of the software.

thank you thankyouthankyouthankyou

Well the problem was that we needed joypads for player 1 and 2 both set up on our computers, even though we were only using one controller each. Hope that helps anyone else that might have the problem with jnes. Enjoy your lives and may you bear many smart tech-savvy children
