No, I'm not surprised that more singles are bought online than in stores, but I'm not sure we'll ever see the day that more total songs are bought online than in music stores. Assuming the regulators shut down every illegal MP3 site on P2Ps, IRC and ftp, the majority of downloaders will go back to record stores than Napster 2.0. It costs maybe $1 extra to manufacture the CD and booklet and it's worth paying that if you're enough of a fan to buy it in the first place. Plus for the largest demographic of music buyers, 13 to 22 year olds, it's more fun to go to the mall/store with friends and hang out and check out music than to sit in your basement downloading it off the internet... using your mom's credit card.
