n64 controller problems with adaptor

Whenever I use my N64 controller through my N64/PSX adaptor while playing supersmash brothers as well as any other game mainly ssb in this case I am unable to jump by moving the joystickor crouch by pressing down. Ican use directional punches such as up+A but for some unknown reason i am unable to jump. Also whenever i try to walk my person goes extremely slow. I was wondering if anybody knew of a way to fix this problem. SORRY for the double post internet lagged for a sec

Same here I got everything fine but any game, mario 64 is the first I tried, I walk extremely slow....like there is no sensitivity on the analog stick, I am also usuing an N64 controlelr through the USB PSX/64 adapter.
