My speakers are haunted. Literally.

I've really noticed it lain: They are haunted. I'm serious here.
When I turn down the volume to minumum I can hear sounds from it... it sounds like a radio station or something?
The weird thing is that when I turn the volume up, it disappears. Whem I turn it down, the volume of this increases.
I'll try to record from the sound card and see if I can pick anything up, but this... this is scary. Really.
They are haunted and I am NOT kidding.

After a little more testing it seems that turning up the volume to max also lets me hear this. And it is variable in decibel. Sometimes it goes high, then low. And sometimes it cannot be heard at all.
My attempts to record from the sound card has not turned out successful. I get nothing.

Interference is common - when using a mobile near a TV or computer, I can hear stuff through the speakers. Try capturing the sound with a voice recorder/mobile/microphone in front of the speakers and uploading it?

I know interference, but this is not like any common interference. It's music, speech. I could try a microphone.

I can hear sounds when my speakers are low too, its not haunted, our speakers are just crap, turn them off and problem solved.

I've worked with some larger sound systems and occasionally picked up local radio stations just out of the blue. Audience reactions are priceless when a serious speech is interrupted by "Baby Got Back".

How can it do that? It's a 5.1 system and sound is coming from all speakers.
It also mystifies me that it comes out when the volume is set to minimum or maximum, not otherwise. The higher the volume, the lower it gets.
It's haunted, I tell you!

Its ironic that your name is doomulation, your from doomland, and your avatar is the grim reaper, and your freaked out that your speakers are haunted.

But I get this kind of interference all the time with my phone, I used to have problems with my router. Usually its not anything that you can really understand as any music or anything. But what I would recomend doing, is testing and see what happens. unplug them from your computer, and unplug power, see your results...

Another really cool thing you could do, is take the front speaker jack (the yellow one) and plug it into your microphone jack and record. The current going through the wires of your speakers should register on the sound card when you record.

and BTW, what are the specs on your sound system (other than the fact that its 5.1)?

Actually, I'm not freaked out. I don't know what I feel about it actually... Not fraked out and not scared, though.
I don't know much abou sound systems. I know it's a decent one I think. The sound card is top notch as you can see, though.
Maybe I'll put it in the microphone to try... maybe tomorrow...

Happened to my friend with speakers similar to these. He replaced the cable going from the speakers to the amp, and the problem was gone.
