/feeling sad, my cd-rw/dvd-rom looks like is dying. It is not running any dvd, it just makes some sound of the disc spinning but thats all. The joke is that it is still reading common cds/cd-r. what can I do to try give some more life for it?
also, which model (i mean Lg, other one...) of dvd-rom should I get? (ah, it must be good AND CHEAP hehe)

How about getting a DVD writer? There are decent writers for about 55€ around.

My LG burner has problems with all DVD+ media i tried on it, so I won't recommend that brand. Try Philips, Samsung or NEC instead, those brands are very cheap.

Edit: You could try cleaning the lens with a cleaning disc!

yeah nice idea I'll try it :) thanks. and yeah, I think a dvd writer won't be a bad idea... but, does not the burner drives weaker than the reader ones? I mean, i think my dvd is bad cause I burn so much cds with it...

Just Another Wacko ;)
If the DVD lens died it has nothing to do with burning CDs unless the drive uses one lens for both (in that case it wouldn't read anything). This lens issue is quite common on many drives...

If you're planning to get a DVD recorder I suggest getting a NEC or a Toshiba since they're quite cheap and reliable.
