http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=241895) with two AMD Athlon FX-51's wouldn't i in theory have like the most powerful desktop pc there is, course id prolly never do this in real life because its real expensive 1800 for processors and mobo alone

No.

That is hardly a desktop PC. Tyan motherboards aren't normally intended for the desktop market...

Also systems with 2 processors will only help a little unless the programs you are running support threads because 1 thread can run on no more than 1 processor... it's usually only good for servers.... also, isnt the amd-fx 64 bits? trust me, this will not magically double the speed of the games - if these are faster only because of more cycles or redesigned electrical circuits for some instructions

That computer is crap!!! Ok, well it's not crap persay, but the price is rediculous. I priced what I could make an equivaltent PC for, and at over $1600 less than what they charge. The difference is warranty would be limited to manufacuter and the case wouldn't look as cool. But Alienware is a total rip off.

Well, the term you're looking for is SMP, and many games support it these days.

That really depends. If the underlying OS is 64-bit, and the game isn't, the game will still run faster. It will run even faster if the game is written with 64-bit support (none support it yet, but I anticipate that to change soon.)

ut2k3, alice, falcon 4, rtcw, just to name the ones I have actually played before.

That is a bullshit list, it doesn't even include ut2k3. (its on geoshities for fucks sakes)

Even if it was only 11, thats still enough to make it worthwhile. The number of games that support SMP will increase once hyperthreading becomes common.

oh yeah?

its better than anything you have come up with. Show me a proper list, otherwise fuck off and quit your bitching.

FYI ut2k3 only uses SMP to process the sound. Using a decent soundcard - audigy or soundstorm for example - wil almost totally destroy any need for smp in UT2k3 due to their superiour low cpu-usage.

Perhaps that's why it isnt in the list. care to comment?

Mmm K, how about we all stop bitching. Its nothing new that I dont tollerate arguing in here and I think this one just crossed the line from persuasive discussion to argument.
