Can someone please explain what software they use to copy files from iso's?
I have a 56k and don't want to download big software.
Do you know of any small software?
I'm new to this. Thanks.

Has anyone every used iso to restore an OS image?

The best you can do is convert binary images (.bin, .img) into data and audio tracks, using binchunker.

AFAIK there's no way to unpack NRG, CDI, and MDF image formats...

Right, forgot about isobuster... basically works in conjunction with binchunker.

The trouble is, I just realised Rico is probably talking about not even having the entire CD rip himself, but just selectively downloading pieces of the rip... which isn't possible. The closest you could get is finding out exactly where your own CD is corrupt and *attempting* to find an identical image on the net, then receiving the missing data... but that would be painful as hell and AFAIK there are no apps that do this currently. Someone should make one, that would be handy ^^

I haven't ever tried it to pull files, but I know WinRAR let's you open incomplete archives. ZIP has the checksums at the end, so you can't pull anything easily, but I know I opened ISOs before that weren't complete (peaking in them while they downloaded). You may be able to pull files from it...goodluck

No... WinRAR only lets you unpack an ISO from sequential files. Once it hits a corrupt data point it stops unpacking, no matter what.

And I wonder how well ISOBuster would work on an incomplete image. o_O

I was talking about having an incomplete ISO, not a spanned ISO, but then again, most ISOs are spanned...Just suck it up, and let your computer download at night while you sleep. You can grab a good 100-150 meg which means a CD in a week. Hey, it's what you do when you don't have DSL or Cable :D
