Here are a series of leaked internal memos from microsoft identifying linux as a serious threat, dubbed "the halloween documents":

Apparently microsoft believes that the reason linux is able to thrive is because of the sense of community that the programmers have. Microsofts response to the "threat" is to establish a community feeling towards windows users. I fail to see how that could work since you actualy have to pay to be a member of this "community", and because of the closed source nature, there won't be any developer participation.

LOL today I read on the site that Linux wasn't interested at all in a conversation with Microsoft :p:happy: they actually said that MS can go to hell but then in a pollied way :p:sly:

I cant beleive after so many years they took over Konami i mean come on they make Arcade games: plain2:

Hmm.. im gonna really be pissed if MS buys Sega :eek:

and i would download and use an MS distro, especially if it was fully open source and had full compatability with win32 api and directx.

n e 1 who wouldn't use that distro would be just plain stupid. :)

but who m i kiddin'? ms never believed in if you can't beat em, join em, it's always been if you can't beat 'em, buy their nearest competitor.... hence the konami capcom rare, etc buying spree, they WILL produce some good games for the xbox after all.

Microsofts attempt to establish a community is surfacing. They are setting up a clone of sourceforge. The good news is that this means that microsoft has pretty much admitted that opensource software isn't merely an attempt to clone what they do, rather now microsoft is cloning them. Better yet is microsofts agreement to posting code there, all code you post there becomes property of microsoft :happy:
