I got 100% looooooooooooong ago, not to brag but... oops, hehe. Well, anyway, some can be hard to find, and I don't know if I can remember where they are anymore...
Dunno though. Don't remember how many you need for the best ending, but I figure it's around 95% or so.

I don't know offhand, but I was looking through the logbook and realized I missed a surprisingly large number of creatures. I thought I had scanned everything. Besides that, I missed one piece of pirate data.

I don't think the reward for 100% scans is anything spectacular though, so I'll probably just focus on getting those last few missles so I can see the "good" ending.

I gave up on the Mines level. Couldn't find a save point other than the one at the very start.

There is a second one near the Omega Pirate. That level kicked my ass the first time through, which meant a long-ass trek from the first save point, bleh. I tore it up on my second attempt though. Three attempts needed to beat Omega. Tough nut to crack that one, but nowhere near as bad as Meta Ridley. *shudder*

Hmm, I got 100% scans. You get another image gallery, just like when you get all items.
The omega pirate can be a pain in the ass, but is actually pretty easy to beat if you enuff missiles. You should just fire super missiles at the lockable thingies (plates?) when he slams into the ground. For the pirates that try to trouble you, I suggest you ignore them or go for the ones on the wall. The omega pirate will finish them off when he retruns. A super missile in his core will do him good!

As for meta ridley, did you know that once he loses his wings you can actually use the powered up wave beam mode? Just keep firing and it should kill him (hopefully) if you got enuff missiles. Pretty stupid boss imo. Patheticly done, though not easy.

When I beat Omega (on my third attempt) he was pretty easy, insomuch as I was able to follow the pattern easily. I only lost a few tanks of health. Used the Plasma Beam primarily (love that weapon) which was great for his armor, and of course a super-missile to the chest when he was invisible.

Though I beat Meta Ridley on my second attempt, he really wore me down. Full health to start (all 14 tanks); I had 72 points left at the end of the fight. I didn't find out about the Wavebuster trick until afterwards.
