axcc123, reverie and I already recognize that our versions are not selfboot and we've already tried to make it selfboot. So far, neither of us has had any luck. Do you have any other suggestions to make it selfboot?

Agozer, I tried deleting the .cfg file and running the emulator again, but like reverie, it didn't work. The only curious thing that happens is my Virtual CloneDrive doesn't change names when I mount my .cdi file on it. It reads as "Virtual CloneDrive ( E: )" before and after I mount the image. I know for sure that it can actually mount the image since Chankast sees an audio CD, but the only problem is that it doesn't see it as a game CD.

When I suggested to delete the Chankast.cfg file, I thought it would solve the emulator crash reverie experienced, not to magically make the game boot.

Adaptec - Adaptec - Support go here and get the aspi windows package extract the file and run the install.bat note you shouldnt have to do this as the cdromxxx plugin should work before you do all this i can pm i have working boot disc's i hope i dont get into trounble with the moderaters er... um at any rate you should just be able to mount the file with daemon tools when you do that if windows media plater opens the file as a music track that mught be part of the problem.

step 1: mount utopia disc image
step 2: open chankast emulator after you mount image
step 3: it should boot now to the utopia image
step 4: swap image(i usually dont un mount causes system hangs) with mvc2 image wah lah
if this doesnt work you have a bad image of utopia

OK, I tried a working copy of Utopia (in that it worked for the person who gave it to me... he also has Chankast) and it still wouldn't go to the Utopia screen. Does that mean that there's something wrong w/ my version of Chankast itself? Like, maybe it's bios or something?

One other thing. Today, I installed Daemon Tools v3.29 (downloaded from the Daemon Tools site). I've configured Chankast to read from the F:\ but I get an "IOControl error" message when I mount an image and try to start Chankast.

use the cdromxxx plugin not the aspi of all the things that could happen to make running chankast seem impossible dont worry you'll get it eventually.....

For those who get an IOControl rror message should try ChankEx (search the board), as it has a few fixed plugins that will probably work better than the current ones.

Also, switching the CD-ROM plugin from ASPI to xxx will rarely fix an IOControl error (most likely never).

Well, I've tried the European bios (the one w/ the blue swirl instead of the red one, right?) and it still gave me the ioControl error. But, Agozer, you're right: ChankEx doesn't give me that error anymore w/ their new CD plugin. Still, neither the game nor the bootdisk will run. In fact, when I choose the play option from the menu, it just reboots the emulator.

Oi... so much trouble just to get MVC2 working ...

Um... another question. I've asked around in other places and is it possible that my CD image is a dud? I'm a little skeptical about that since I downloaded the Accurate Mix of the game as well as the Zerosity version and the chances of both of them not working and both being duds... Maybe that's just a lapse of logic on my part. And that dosen't explain why a working copy of Utopia fails to do anything for me... What do you all think?

I managed to get to the utopia boot disk image on the chankastalpha025 player (the twirling dog/reindeer thing) and it says to load the CD. In the virtual drive. (Daemon) i replaced the utopia thing with MARVEL_VS_CAPCOM2 MDF image 243 MB. Then i look at the emulator. It changes to the same reindeer thing except now its glossy and in the background theres a twirling CD with an image of a soccer coach yellingin a locker room. <wtf?... then nothing happens... I pressed all the buttons on my keyboard and nothing happens. I configured the keys already... z=a x=b s=x d=y e=start... nothing happens... someone help?

i have capcom hack on. Is it that i cant use the .MDF? i downloaded it off isohunt. after that i extracted it. it came with 3 things. I chose the 243MB one cuase that was the biggest. The other 2 were 1kb and 233 kb. I thought those were too small to be a game so i didnt load those. It would be reasonable to choose the 243mb. I loaded that one. Should i get an iso version? can someone post steop by step directions on exactly how to setup chankastalpha025 to get MVSC2. Ive found tidbits in each thread but i cant piece them together... ty for the help :bouncy:
