Describe the Problem:
I'm trying to get help from the emulator with frame buffer emulation in Glide64. Billboard in MarioKart must display the race in action. To do this, part of current frame buffer is copied into some place and then used as texture in the next frame. Since this copy is made outside of video plugin, there are no means to detect such frame buffer usage. But according to FBRead specification, emulator must help me there and tell me that frame buffer was read. However, FBRead is never called, even when I near the billboard. What's wrong?

How to Make this Problem Happen:
Run the game, select first set of tracks, the first track has billboard.

Apologies if you have already done this.

If you right click the game and go to properties there is an option to change FB R/W which is by default off with Mario Kart (at least with my version). By using that and setting Rices Plugin to the "With emulator" frame buffer option that screen displays perfectly.

Sadly it also makes the game crawl (20-25fps).

Thanks, Trotterwatch, it helped me to activate FBRead calls. However, for MarioKart this function is called constantly, regardless of real frame buffer usage. Thus it is useless for this game. schibo, is it a bug?

May be I'll have more luck with Banjo Kazooie...

It is right that this function is get called constantly for MarioKart. I believe the game is programmed in such a way. It works better for Banjo Kazooie.
