What's new

Majora's Mask won't run.

Alright, I tried to run Majora's Mask on the EMU, and once i put in a name for the file, and then go select it to play, the screen turns black like it's loading or something, and then just stays black. I am using the E version. Since this game required the expansion pack for N64, do i need to install something else?

oh and by the way, i can run Zelda: OOT just perfect, but it seems as if there is something wrong w/the ROM i am using.

what do you mean once you put in a Name in the file ?

What is the Goodn64 name of this File ?

And it always helps people if you include you comp Specs for people to help you.

Alright, what i mean by once i put in a name for the file, is when I start a new game, (like you select file 1 or file 2, and then that's where you can resume your game from).

I'm kinda new at using this emulator, so i'm not sure what Goodn64 name means, but the name of the file is: Legend of Zelda 2 - Majora's Mask (E) [!].v64

Specs are:
Pentium 4, 1.6 Ghz
512 RAM
64MB GeForce 2 Video card

Ok right well the Goodn64 Name for the (E) Region is
Legend of Zelda, The - Majora's Mask (E) (M4) [!]

please go to the GoodN64 Section & Grab all 3 files.

Then make a new folder like GoodN64 and Extract all 3 into it.

please check that File with it & see what name it gives you

OK, i downloaded all 3 of those files and put them in their own folder. I'm sorry but i don't quite understand what you are telling me what to do next. If possible, could you walk me through because I don't understand what you mean by "please check that File with it & see what name it gives you."

Thanks

Still no luck..

Alright, I figured out how to use the GoodN64 (thanks for telling me) but after i changed the name of the Zelda rom, it still doesn't work!

Does anyone else have this similar problem? I am using Version 1.5 final, and my specs are listed in this post. I run Ocarina of Time just perfect, along with other ROMS. Majora's Mask loads up fine, and i get to the screen where you can select a game to start from, and once I select a game file, the screen goes black, and then it never changes from there. I can't seem to find a US version of this game only a European...is that why it doesn't work because I am using the European version?

Do I have to have a different version of PJ64 to play the E version or something? I've tried downloading a few different E versions of this game, and all of them have the same result..the black screen of death :( any help please!!!

thanks

Have you touched the rom settings at all? (Right click rom, edit rom settings, see pic- mine works with these settings) BTW the (E) rom works (I have it and it works fine)

Clements: no i have not messed with the settings, but i will try them today and let you know what happens.

Dang...still NO luck! My settings are just like you said yours are...I don't know what is wrong here! the black screen of death..AGAIN!

oh yeah, i noted that it says "failed to open flashram". that could be my problem maybe...or does it always say that? Is there something I need to download for this game? Should i try reinstalling the PJ64?

Does it matter that the game is an Expansion Pak game?

I also noticed that if you go to "Options" then go to "Show CPU Usage %" it says 90% idle, which is another sign that the program is hung up.

I have a question tho...what if i find a save state or something and try to load it? think it might work?

Oh well if this one game doesn't work, i'm still satisfied and having fun w/Ocarina of time and Mario 64!

Last idea... might work- worth a try.
Turn on Advanced Block Linking for this game if you have the option off, or off if you have it on. Its in the rom settings.
