Yup the software is free, but it works just like the classic card game. You pay $9.99 to create an account (there is a free trial mode but you must use pre-built decks). You get a free voucher for $9.99 in your email when you make an account. You can buy a tournament pack of cards with this. The cards automatically appear in your account. You buy additional cards just like you would with the traditional card game. If you collect an entire set, you will be able to redeem them for real cards.

Well, I have seen people selling cards, but I'm not sure how they make the transaction. There is a good method for trading cards however. The game is identical to the real game, but there is no need to argue about interpretations of the cards. As it says in the info files "Each game is like having an official DCI judge sitting right at the table." So basically it will only allow you to make legal moves, another good thing is that it shuffles your deck and players can't "stack" their lands like they use to by shuffling in a land card every other card. Due to worldwide gambling laws, there are no ante games, but there are prizes you can win in tournaments.

Oh and if you don't want to download, you can buy a starter pack for $9.99 that comes with a free $9.99 voucher to create your account with and you still get the email voucher when you create the account. But this way you get a free CD hard copy of the game.

Oh my god! I used to play that back before the stupidly complex days of Weatherlight and phasing ruined it... I still have all the cards even lol ;)

Geez, your already trading? You do know, that if you want to be a serious player you should keep 2 or more of the good cards. You can actually play with up to 4 of each card type in each deck, and since this is digital and not real life, you can use the same card in an unlimited amount of decks therefore people usually trade cards they have more than 4 of. Ive been trading ones that I have 3 or more of.

Thats one of the things I like about this. I can create as many decks as I want and load them in the blink of an eye, wheras the RL card game I had to spend hours re-designing my deck in between games.

Anyway. My Magic name is Alshain. Let me know what yours is and we can contact each other.

A good way to gain cards that you dont have is to play a Draft game. In a draft everyone brings three expansion packs. At the start everybody opens a pack, takes one card and passes it to the left and continues until the cards are gone. Then you all open another pack and pass to the right and contiue this method until all the cards in all packs are "drafted". Then you play a game with those cards and in the end you keep the cards you picked. Its a good way to get cards you don't have because instead of 3 random packs of 15 cards, you have 24 random packs of 15 cards.

Good to hear! My magic name is Martin64 and I'll join now and see if I can find you. :)

BTW, I stick around "constructed games - new players" and in casual (/join casual) when I'm online...
