Looking for a cheap graphics card for playing N64 games with antialiasing

Hello,
Want to buy a cheap graphics card for my second computer (Athlon 800, TNT2). At my first computer (AthlonXP 1800, Geforce6600) I play N64 games with Project64 1.6 and the following graphics settings (using Jabo D3D8 1.6):

Full screen resolution: 1440x1050 32bit 60Hz
Full screen sync: transfer memory
Full scene antialiasing: 4X

Which cheap AGP graphics card meets this settings, or at least 2X full scene antialiasing? I first thought of buying a Geforce3 or a Geforce4 Ti at eBay, but I'm not sure, if they meet the high resolution and the antialiasing settings.

Thanks, but this graphics card does not work with my mainboard (ASUS K7M). It only fits in AGP 4X/8X slots, but I have an AGP 1X/2X slot. Do you know another model?

My Radeon 9700 works nice in my PII 233Mhz 2xAGP MS-6117 board ;)
every agp4x or 8x Card works in 2x slots!
Only 2x AGP cards dont work in 4x or 8x slots (as far as i know)
I tested it myself with 3dmark03 on my PII 233Mhz.
The Doom3 equal scene runs nice at ~15-20 fps (no joke!)

Not every new AGP card can go in an AGP2x slot, for example, newer AGP Radeon cards. The AGP4/8x only cards physically cannot fit in the slot as they lack of a notch on the AGP connector.

The Radeon 9700 is available as AGP2/4/8x, so that's why it fits in an AGP2x slot. The Radeon 9550 however does not have this capability.

That sounds good. But if a GeforceFX 5200 works, do Geforce3 and Geforce4 Ti's work too? I heard that a GeforceFX 5200 is not much faster than a Geforce4 MX and a Geforce4 MX is definitely slower than a Geforce3 or Geforce4 Ti.

FX 5200 is a minimum I'd ever suggest for N64 emulation. GeForce 3 and 4 Ti's are faster but only support PS1.1 - which could be an issue with some emulators and configs. An FX 5700 or maybe a 6200 (128-bit) if you can find one in AGP2x would sort those cards out speed-wise and offer DX9.0 compliance, if you want to pay a bit extra.

lol, played with my TNT2 M64 for a long time without probs (at 1024x768 without antialiasing). :)

Which issues do you mean? At the moment, I know no Project64 plugin, which supports DX9/PS2.0.

Direct64 supports DX9, Glide64 + Hacktaruxes wrapper has a shader that supports GLSL which only comes with DX9 hardware (I believe).

Oh, thanks for the information. I have only used Jabo's graphics plugins, yet. Maybe I'll test the Direct64 plugin on my first computer.
But on the second computer I'll definitely use Jabo's D3D8 plugin. So are there any issues without a DX9/PS2.0 card anyway?

You wouldn't be able to use the brightness slider with Jabo's D3D8 without a DX9 compliant video card. You also never know when DX9 will start becoming a requirement, as is already becoming the case with Direct64.

don't buy a new card without PS2.0 or later. jabo's already barely able to keep everything within limits of GF3/4

Radeon 8500 says you are wrong :p Brightness slider seems to work fine with Pixel Shader 1.4.

Though I agree that a DX9 Pixel Shader 2.0 compliant card is obviously the way to go.

Ok, heard in another forum that there are not much speed differences between the FX 5200 and GeForce 3/4 models on my second computer. Also the FX 5200 has got a passive heatsink :)
So I'll buy a FX 5200. Thanks for your help.

You're right - it is PS1.4, but the GeForce3/4 do not support this anyway.
