ok i know i just posted this but now i cant find it even when searching

i asked "is there anyway to play N64 games lega"

Clements answered something along the lines of:

ROMs = illegal
Games you own and took the data off of = legal

so 2 questions

1: How do i rip the files off old N64 cartriges

2: Is that legal

3: How do i reply to messages (im new and i cant find the reply button :( )

in the USA, even roms you rip are now illegal due to change to archiving laws.

Roms overall are not illegal, however the data they contain may be copyrighted, and thus make individual roms illegal.

so to answer your question

1, Using rom dumping equipment
2. Location dependant, in the USA, no its not legal, in the UK, yes it still is.
3. the quote button is at the bottom of each post, and the reply button is underneath the last post on each page of a thread.

I was wondering where you got this information. (I'm not doubting you or anything; it's just the first I've heard of it and I like to keep up-to-date on this sort of thing.)

so basically in order to not be arrested for pirating i must

a) move to the UK

b) not use roms/emulators?

I'm sure the UK has similar copyright laws. China might be safer.

Seriously, the chance that you'll be arrested for downloading a few roms is virtually nil. Download all you want, or rip them from your own cartridges (it's possible, but the equipment is expensive and hard to find), no one cares, but no one is going to help you either. You're on your own, end of subject.
