Can't wait for it to arrive, in 3 to 5 days!!!! ahhhhhhh (I hate the wait, hehe)

I would have grabbed up on an ATI x800 Pro or XT, but the 6800 GT was under $300! Nice deal

anyway all the reviews I am seeing now do have the ATI card beating out the 6800 when it comes to D3D, but it's always by only a few FPS any how. ATI and Nvidia are making some sweet products. Seems to be all about who has a better deal at the time you order.

NVIDIA has the better hardware this time around, ATI are currently in damage control mode much like NVIDIA was last year.

Yep, and next year NVidia will be back to damage control and ATI will be on top, its an endless cycle of redundancy I tell you.

Buy.com is where I am going through. I can post a link to a 10% coupon you can try using. Be aware that my online order status is showing the card for $287, but the e-mail I was sent has it listed at $319. There is some mumbo jumbo about not being able to use the coupon if it was not actually sent to your e-mail. Anyway I plan to stick it out since even $319 is a good deal anyway. Hopefully the e-mail is wrong. :)

This deal is ripped from gotapex.com

Where did you here this stuff about ATI?

My clan (well over 80 peeps) has many of us using ATI and Nvidia stuff. Several members have the new x800 XT and Pro plus a few with 6800 and GT models. All users are quite happy with their items. And actually the ATI users are expected be more happy with Direct3D apps as the Nvidia product really is going to prevail in OGL programs for the most part. We are still just talking 5 to 10 FPS amongst the cards (Ultra VS XT and Pro VS GT). Heck even Tom's Hardware and HardOCP are saying this.

Seems to me it's all win/win currently! Is this a paradox!

Personally I'm sick of Nvidia myself. Ive never had a card other than nvidia (except on my old 486 when I had an IBM but I dont count that). I'm really tired of it messing up when other cards dont. Even other Nvidia cards dont crash on games that mine does (GF 3 Ti 200). Its just ridiculous to me and next time I will buy an ATI card for sure.

That's a bummer Eagle. Prior to my ATI 9600 Pro that I have now, I had always had Nvidia as well GF4 TI4200, GF3 TI200, GF 256, TI. Before that it was 3DFX of course along with Diamond Stealth line of 2D cards :)

I do beleive now though that video card Nirvana is here, at least for a few months, lol. I still feel that picking either Nvidia or ATI in their new series of cards, no one can go wrong. Of course their are ATI and Nvidia "fan boys" that will say different, but I know both sides of the coin. :)

BTW, if anyone tries the link I hope it works for you. My order is showing it almos tto the last step of shipping it, at the $287 price. ::crosses fingers::

So I get a message from Buy.com that my order could be 1 to 3 weeks!!!

I cannot wait that long. Now I have an x800 Pro in my hands all I need to do is open and install.

Do I stick with ATI who has been making leaps and bounds or wait it out for the GT card?

I'm thinking ATI. One, I have it and as I said, hate to wait. It wasn't a bunch more and actually I got a free copy of Farcry with it from CompUSA. I had went in to snag the GT plus Doom3 deal for $399, but they were out. I crabbed a little about that so the sales person asked the manager "if this guy buys the ATI can he pick a game since we are out of the GT's?", she says "just not Doom3 it can only go with Nvidia cards", lol. So I grabbed Farcry.

Second even though the Pro is only 12 pipelines compared to 16 on the GT, the ATI has much faster RAM and keeps up quite well if not surpasses the GT in most D3D games and apps currently (this could change with proper drivers I guess).

I hate dilemmas like this.

Well no more dilemma and anyone else who may have ordered this card please read.

Buy.com has now changed the specs of that card from a Jaton 6800 GT 256 meg DDR to a Jaton 6800 128 meg DDR. Not sure what they are doing, but I have requested to cancel my order and removed all my credit card info from my account.

This place seems shady to me. Sure it could be just minor goof, but I hate how they have apparently taken the time to change their end but not inform peeps who already ordered. Lame.

Now I guess it's in with the ATI x800 Pro, :)
