Jumping on the Bandwagon....

Hello, I'm new here and usually I don't like having to ask for help. But since my PC is a POS system (see the signature), I've been having problems running Zelda: Ocarina of Time on my PC

Now, I checked the boards and the FAQs and someone had a problem even running the game (my original problem). I fixed that and now I'm left with this. I took a picture at this point of the game because there's other parts where I have this same visibilty problem, with colored blotches on the bg, and perfect 3d figures. Any help would be appreciated.

1964 versions 0.7.3 and earlier, not sure about 0.8 pre-release, doesn't support jpeg decompression which will result in errors like the one above.

im guessing u havent go jabos direct3d 1.4 gfx plugin, s u need that to run the games in all their glory, and no worries as ur spec is pretty good for 1964.

go to www.pj64.net, download pj64 1.4 and copy and paste the jabo direct3d6.dll into ur 1964 plugin folder. select the plugin in the the plugin selection op[tion when u start 1964.

looking at ur pic....i think that is the only part where the gfx are seriously screwed, just walk around untill u end up outside the hut and all should be good.

That just might explain it...

Thanks a lot, the both of you. But here's a question. What's this whole thing about JPEG decompression, and is this the only emulator which doesn't support it? I thought this would be a plugin problem, but I guess I'll wait till the next release.

Zelda uses prerendered backgrounds in houses (meaning that the background is just a set of pictures). It makes me wonder though, because Link's house, the Market entrance and the Temple of Time entrance are just about the only places that give trouble, and prerendered backgrounds are used throughout the game.
