Jabo, some problems with the Dx8 plugin. and whats in the next one?

will the next version disengage DirectX properly when you end emulation.

the current DX8 plugin doesn't so you have to close PJ64 before attempting to launch another game.

alot of the time it also freezes the dx sub system forcing you to either reset or do a blind logoff to disengage the api

None of this happens on my system - I think it is far more likely a problem with your computer, graphics drivers maybe.

i doubt it.

its happened with every driver i've used with the DX 8 plugin

its also the only application which gives an issue.

wierd. i can't really tell why it does it.
i have another system here running a TI4800se and it doesn't do it either. but both have practically the same settings.

and it does appear that the emulator just doesn't Release the DX8 plugin properly when you end a rom... so i dunno... its just dodgy..

the DX6 plugin has always worked fine.

but also everything else as i said, exits properly, so i think its just a plugin bug, so hopefully the next one will work ok.

will the next one be a Dx 9 plugin?

ok i've just found that its something to do with the resolution, i sometimes get resolution errors with this plugin,

the last message i got was a couldn't release memory error when trying to go to full screen after being in a window.

also. the problem doesn't occur when playing in a window, it disengages the D3d api properly. so its something to do with Full screen d3d in the plugin, on certain cards.

ok i've been doing some more scenario testing

Dx6 1.5.1 plugin - Works perfectly (including loading a state while in fullscreen

Dx8 1.6.0 plugin - you can full screen and window it as long as you only load save states from a window, once you load a save state in full screen, upon going back to a window will result in the screen to lock in full screen mode, and the game appears to keep running.
if you try to fullscreen again you get an error notification message in the background which results in the error messages from the last post.

not sure why these occur. all i know is they do.
