Issue with Legeng of Zelda:MM ; Help pls.

Ok, maybe this isn't usual but I can't advance further, I'm stuck where the kid wants to bring down the moon at the very beginning, at first I thought oh well big deal I just play the new tune, but the thing is that I can't, I mean, I play it exactly, but nothing happens and the time keeps running, I've tried about 1 hour playing the same song, backwards, playing 2 times each note, and playing it like 30 min straight but nothing happens =(
Is this an issue or what should I do ?

You must learn the song first. In others words, complete the first cycle quest by confronting the skull kid on top of the clock tower before you learn this song and can manipulate time.

Yes I did that, I mean before you said it, I'm on top of thw tower I've gotten the ocarina, the memories or whatever came and I learned the song, the thing is that when you play it it must be some kind of event or transition or something, like when u played the ocarina in the 1st zelda, the notes of the song showed up and it was played again, but this doesn't happens to me, I just keep on playing it but nothing, nada
