I didn't see any obvious way to do savestates. Is there any way to get that kind of feature?

Well, the latest Chankast release was in 2004, but we don't know if it is dead or not really. Wait for next versions or wait for a new dreamcast emulator. At the moment, you cannot use savestates.

Yeah, I'll just use it as normal now, but damn Ikaruga doesn't save after the levels XD

Basically, you're stuck for now. Since it's never been officially stopped, we can't say that development has discontinued on Chankast. However, if you look at the last time any part of it recieved an update, you can get a rough idea of when you might see the next release. Basically, if there's a release within the next 2 years, that's pretty good. So, use the memory card saves every chance you get. Besides, with how buggy this emulator is, relying on savestates would probably crash your game faster than just playing straight through. Mouser X over and out.

Yup if you cant save you could always cheat. cheating with chankast seems like alot of hassle although there are a zillion cheat tutorials which explain specifically the steps taken. I just never bothered.

If you're stuck in Ikaruga you can download one of these saves on this page. You need to download .VMI ("DC" link) + .VMS ("PC" link) files, or just .DCI ("Nexus" link) file.

Then import the save in one of Chankast's memory cards with VMU Explorer.
