Today I decided to tryout iPod Linux.

After installing iPod Linux on my nano (using the latest podzilla + kernal, 26 nov). I decided to try out the cool stuff you can do with podzilla...

Watching movies!

First I took a normal MPG and converted it to this special format (seems like some uncompressed AVI). A small videoclip roughly takes up to 200~220 MB of space.

After that I copied it into my video folder and tried running it.
It's actually pretty good.

I've captured all of this (boot of ipodlinux to playing a video).

*notes:
1. at the end: yup that's my white nano in a green nanotube
2. my damn ixus couldn't focus/zoom while recording so the last seconds are a bit blurry.
3. this movie is encoded in xvid. for encoders you can check out doom9.org

oh, btw the mp3 player in podzilla is crap so you're better of playing your music in apples firmware. But besides that podzilla is great :D.

oh some note:
in case your ipod won't start normal anymore due some odd reason just get it back to diskmode and you'll be able to restore it with the apple ipod updater (from the apple site)
to go to diskmode:
1. do a reset: press menu + select and hold it for 5 sec.
2. when you see the apple logo do select + play
3. It's kinda tricky but if you do it properly you will see it stating diskmode.

When i got time i might do a mini howto about how i did it.
I used the method with johhny west installer (+latest kernel & podzilla) and with the manual partition fixing in linux.
