installing new fonts in gentoo linux

mesman00

What's that...?
alright, this may sound a little dumb, but i am having trouble installing new fonts. i am using the slickbar theme for superkaramba and it required me to install a certain font. however, it doesn't not tell me how because the readme says the instructions vary for each distro. i tried to install it using the font manager in kcontrol, but this didn't help me out at all. can someone tell me where gentoo looks to for its fonts? thanks alot

it's not a matter of gentoo, but of XFree.
if you take a look at /etc/X11/XF86Config you will see font paths (/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/some_directory)
you gotta put the font into some directory, and then depending on the type of font use some tool to create a directory index for that font directory (fonts.dir)

this might help: http://www.mandrakeuser.org/docs/xwin/xfont.html
