What's new

I would appreciate some help regarding Project 64 plugins...

I have had several graphical glitches during games including micro machines 64, blast corps and most notably Jet Force Gemini (black screen when i get to the second boss) and i was wondering how i would go about using a different plugin.

I downloaded rice's new plugin and i put the plugin file in the plugin directory and the ini file im not very sure where to put but i have tried putting it in with the other config files for Jabo's plugins but they have different file extensions. When i try and go into settings to change the plugin some error mesages come up regarding the rice plugin. I tried the same thing with Glide's plugin and still got the messages.

Sorry if i sound like a whining n00b (i most probably am) but can someone give us a bit of help, thanks.

You need msvcp71.dll and msvcr71.dll to use Rice's plugin with PJ64 - you can get these with 1964 0.9.9. Rice's ini file also goes in the plugin folder.

For Glide64, it looks like you are going to need eVoodoo to get that to work (unless you have a Voodoo card). Get it from the download section and extract the files into your PJ64 folder.

Try using glN64(), TR64 OpenGL and some other plugins as well so you have more choice. All can be found in the download section too.

The Jet Force Gemini problem you mentioned may be in other plugins too, I haven't tried, but it can be worked around in Jabo's plugin by enabling Wireframe mode so at least it helps get passed that bit.

Btw wireframe mode is when it shows the green polygon outlines of the sprites isnt it? (mental image)

Yep, unfortunately. It's better than a black screen though! :p

I can't remember why the boss doesn't show up, perhaps some special effect is involved like motion blur or something which isn't emulated right. JFG has only just been emulated by plugins other than Jabo's, so it's likely that you'll see the boss in the future.

If you attached a save state/normal save right before this boss then a plugin author can take a look and maybe investigate the effect to see what's going on.
