I think stomping out that shit your country was up to about 60 years ago was very justified.

:sleepy:

read my words ... purpose aside, in any case innocent people will die. justified and justly are two different things.

Democracy... There's no such thing. Only oligarchies and fascist oligarchies. Heap of mafiozi and their marionettes - politicians.
And they use people, brainwashed by TV and other PR as their cannon fodder. Simply making money.

you really think nobody living under a democracy has free thought and difference of opinion because of tv's "brainwashing"? my GOD! there are people here arguing and ur point is that governments have everyone in their pocket?... i agree they play a popularity game, but for those in the know, facts are facts... how they are dechiphered is up to the individual

No matter where you live, no matter who governs you, unless your brain dead, you have the ability to make choices. That means, in the extreme circumstance for example, that you have the choice between dieing, or working in a sweat shop. This is where liberty comes in, which if we had no democracy, there would realy be none. (side note, liberating sweat shops seems to be wrong by todays standards...)

You know, it was just brought to my attention that currently only 1/10th of our oil supply actualy comes from the middle east, who knows what percentage of that actualy comes from iraq. The majority of our imports already come from venezuela, mexico, and our own source, alaska.

Mr. Super Clever
To quote DaveW, from nvnews.net....

The US government, like the government of any country, places the needs of its own people over the needs of others. No democratic country would ever elect a President/PM that would put the needs of the world population above its own people, because the voting public are motivated by their own selfish needs. Where there are differences is in how far a country is prepared to go to benefit itself at the expense of others. The US tends to go further than other developed nations, which is why there is more hatred towards the US from developing nations than there is other countries. The US gets away with what it does because it has a large military to back itself up with.

The US military is a political tool. It is much larger than it needs to be just for defense. The USA is unable to support itself, it doesn't have the natural resources to provide for what it consumes. The US economy relies on oil and raw materials from the middleeast and on cheap labor in third-world countries. If any nation ever placed an embargo around the USA its economy would be destroyed. This is why the US maintains a strong military and uses it "proactively" around the globe, to protect its dependence on materials and resources of other nations. The UK is the same way, it depends on other nations for food, materials and goods. This is explains why the US and UK have this "special relationship"; because both countries have very similar motives.

The US government doesn't care about the suffering of others around the world, no government does. Its involvement in Somalia was reactionary, only after charities and news organizations made a big public issue over it. The US president doesn't start off a meeting in the morning saying "ok, how can we make the world a better place today?" if he did, then the USA would have removed the Taliban long before Sept 11th. The planned invasion of Iraq has nothing to do with helping the Iraqi people, or removing an evil dictator. Governments don't make decisions like this based on the here and now, they are working on political predictions of the world climate 20,30,50 years from now. The US wants to invade Iraq to establish a permanent influence in the region and a base of operations against Iran which it considers a major threat in the future. This is why the US is willing to go (actually, *wants* to go) without the UN. The US wants the new regime of Iraq to be a puppet government of the USA, allowing the US to set up military bases there. Iraq is a militarily strategic location and the US wants it

Thats one hell of a conspiracy theorist. I agree though, I can't think of one country anywhere that has given a shit about any other country besides itself. After all, the US only gives hundreds of billions of dollars of foreign aid to different countries every year, far less than any other country, damn them cheap bastards, they should rot in hell. Especialy for wanting to neutralize some dictator who poses no threat to them, only a threat to his neighboring countries.

Honestly if you ask me, I would rather since nobody cares, we keep that foreign aid to ourselves, use it to fund our medicare system, and forget about iraq, then we can be just like the majority of europe.

Alright, I looked at the actual numbers, and our government sector gives $10 billion, and the private sector gives $34 billion. Thats almost as much as bill gates life savings, every single year.

A big fat waste. Everybody else, including the hippocrates , say that our interests in foreign aid are only for political gains. If we withdraw it all, then we get to look like we aren't after the oil anymore, much like our war with saddam. They don't want our aid anyways, they continualy say so, so why shouldn't that money be going to medicaid? I continualy see a shitload of old folks who live like they were thrown out into the garbage, yet we have to send the money that could be helping them to some country where 99% of its population hates us.

Just giving them money doesn't help shit anyways, in fact its the other way around. Aid money always ends up in some foreign fat cats pocket, then they end up building a dictatorship empire, and end up like castro or saddam. Then the people at the other end of the dictatorship become anti american because our money that went to help further their development sent them to poverty. All we should do for aid is increase foreign imports, nothing more. If we don't agitate anybody by not funding their enemy, then there will be no war between the evil americans and the halo good innocent terrorist groups. Should any two groups decide to get into a war, we cut off all trade with both of them til their war is over, that way we don't piss off the other side.

And so what if we are wealthy and they aren't? Thats life, I don't hear any of you telling queen liz to give half of every dime she owns to the poor folks out there. More so, I don't see any of you doing the same thing. During the french revolution, if you even looked rich, you would probably be lynched where you stood. Unless the whole world wants to do this, I don't foresee any changes.

EDIT:
x2f4u: Also don't give me this crap about how nobody should be rich and we should all just settle down and be communist. People get rich by earning their way to the top. yeah I don't like bill gates, but I give him the respect that he earned everything that he has. Theres a difference between being lazy and wanting to be at the top of the pack, the later is what makes you rich, becoming communist removes any incentive to move to the top, so therefore everybody is lazy and nobody gets anything done, and everything that makes life worth living is lost. Americans have earned everything we have, is it a crime to enjoy the result of our hard work?
