ok i have a 3 year old pc with these specs:

700 mhz intel celeron
192mb ram
windows xp (just installed it recently)

i dont have a video card but i was wonderin if my pc would be able to run 64 roms at a reasonable speed if i bought at least a 32mb video card. i only have about 4mb of on-board video memory i think n of course the 64 roms run REALLY SLOW so i just wanna kno if my pc would be able to run them if i just buy at least a 32 mb video card

Pick yourself up an old PCI or AGP Voodoo 3 (or above) card. It'll work well with your PC, and you'll be able to play a shedload of games using Glide64.

You may also want to consider a cheap GF2/4 MX style card.

Quite a lot of roms would run at full speed (or close to it I would imagine). However of course many wouldn't.

I think the best advice will come from those with similar systems :) I don't want you to buy a card on my advice then find it's a POS, lol

And yes you would be able to use 1964/PJ64 if you bought one of those cards.

CPU speed is paramount. 700 MHz is borderline if you intend to use PJ64 or 1964. Older games will likely run well. Newer games on the other hand...maybe.

All of those games should run fine except Goldeneye. You might want to wait for the new 1964 when it's released because Goldeneye requires a high system to play at full speed. I have trouble getting full speed on a 1.2ghz system with 512mb ram.

Yup, my system are specs are almost identical to yours, with a very average and outdated video card.

I can run a good number of N64 games at full or almost full speed. Many other games will run well mostly but slow down at certain points.

So yup I say buy a cheap video card - there will be many games you won't be able to run at a playable speed but there will be a lot that you can.

And like Mystic Gohan said, all us guys with low-end systems are hanging out for the new 1964 which will hopefully make more games playable for us.

The decent one
Go download Glide64 0.5 + evoodoo nemesis + 1964 0.8.5. Extract 1964, put evoodoo in the main-dir of 1964 and Glide64 in the plugin-dir. Then select Glide64 as GFX-plugin and enjoy your games!
