I´m so sick of the bots...

I´m sorry to bring this up yet again, but those bots really grinds my crap. The last one was porn related, with pics and everything. Normally, that would be a lucky day for me, but since it happens in this forum, where there are people of all ages including kids, that really pisses me off.

I know all the mods are doing their best, and their effort is greatly appreciated, but isn´t there a way to add/implement some sort of filter? It is not like there are so many bots now, though...

Yeah, I wondered the same.
I normally check all active threads and on the last post was a bot, which I reported immediatly. It's really crazy, with all these bots. >.<

In all seriousness, it might be a possibility to submit these to the respective law enforcement groups due to the whole "supplying porn to a minor" being illegal in most every country, since lots of members here are considered a minor...

Doesn't anyone else have admin access to the forum or the acp besides Martin? If not someone really needs to find him and get him to do something. Not even Ngemu is getting this volume of spam.

Every time I re-visit emutalk theres always a new bot spamming crap. Sometimes it can take upwards of two hours or longer before a staff member is on, bans the bot and deletes the offending.

Recruiting some new staff might also prove helpful for bot eliminating when no one else is on until Martin gets here and can fix the problem.

I've decided to play a little game instead... there are two big categories: medicine bots and p0rn bots and I count them every time I report them.
Since I wake up (2 hours ago) I already reported 2 medicine bots and only 1 p0rn bot... =]

I think their still there in the General N64 discussion section, I reported those ones too about a few hours ago and they're still there to my knowledge.

I propose that I be considered as part of the staff, while that probably breaches the rules and is technically asking this is why I'm asking:

Sometimes it can take upwards of a few hours or more to before a staff member is on to take care of the bot & it's post.

I am nearly always on my computer with nothing significant consuming my time so bot posts will be taken care of almost as soon as they appear.

I have experience administering and moderating a forum and run my own emulation and gaming community, plus I have a great reputation at forums like Ngemu, General Plots forum and other emulation forums as well.

I'm sorry, but this is the only thing I could think of since Martin isn't around to take care of the source of the problem. This is not something I normally would ask since I am always cautious to follow the rules and not break them, and seems like the only possible solution for now.

You can´t just ask to be a member of the staff, although you intentions are good. It has to be a mutual understanding between the staff, how to deal with things and such. And they have to know you quite well, and vice versa, so that they know they can trust you with this stuff.

Well I am known quite well throughout Ngemu and here, and have a great reputation. However from here the only ones that really know me are registered at both Ngemu and here, and staff such as Clements and Ckemu.



I didn't mean to blurt that out and essentially ask, but I am just so sick of spam, theres nothing you can do but to ban them, delete their posts and move on, then more pop up and take the banned spammers place almost immediately. Reporting it to law enforcement does no good either, spammers continue to spam and they're essentially untraceable by ip address since they infect unsuspecting computers just to wreak havoc on peaceful great communities such as this one.
