Yeah, I'm at school, and I want to share folders over the network and I want to also know how they would connect to it I guess...

I've tried for a while now, so if someone knows how, that will be great. And then I'll feel like and idiot for probably doing a little thing wrong. Anyways, if anyone knows how to share folders over LAN tell me :) plz

The decent one
Just right click at the folder > properties and press "share". They should connect to it via the network environment.

I posted it here because I don't know lol

I do that... I right click and I share it, but they don't even see it... when I go to 'network places' it has 'local network' above... when they do it, they have 'internet'
we all have windows XP pro...

mm.... under xp pro you should see My Network Places > Entire Network > Microsoft Windows Network > (your workgroup name) > (your computer)

if they don't see it, then it might just be that explorer doesn't know its there, but they should be able to access it by going to Start > Run and typing in "\\your_computer_name"

make sure you use the "Full Computer Name" that you see when right-clicking My Computer > Properties > Computer Name

It is also possible that your computers arent seeing each other. If your computer doesnt show under their list, there may be a problem with the network setup. Try installing the IPX protocol, they might communicate better that way. Although its not the preferred way to do things, it does sometimes work when all else fails.
