What are you taling about? I really have no clue what you are saying, write more clearly!

Maybe about replacing dead hdd controller PCB with good one ?

2cold1 - you need 2 hdd of same model and size and also same (major) firmware revision. Look @ your hdd PCB - you will find (usually) sticker with number which looks like

1023-233-456 (can be numbers and letters here)
if you get for example pcb with 1023-233-455 - it will work, but if it looks like 1022-345-456 - you've got big chance to hear click ! click ! click! sound - head tries to read diskware but it's not compatible with ROM (flash) firmware.

Of course here still a chance to change hdd configuration, but it means diskware hacking and it's for real gurus, i'll never try this, only if it's last chance to revive hdd with very very very important data. I don't like to waste my time.

Try to find pcb from same hdd as yours and replace PCB (usually it's easy, just unscrew PCB and detach cables (if any present) then connect and screw new one ) If your HDD not starts and doesn't contain any important data, just dismantle it and use disks as parts for compact and very sensitive UHF antenna, or throw it out of window - 1.2G hdd is very cheap (10$ <=) so don't waste your time

LMFAO!

Somehow he thinks the motherboard has the hard drive implanted. I'd die if he was trying to take out his bios chip and cmos battery thinking they're the HDD. But, i'd expect this from someone of his mental capacity.

ROFL cold1, i swear, every one of your posts makes me bust out laughing. :D

I prey, not pray.
actualy the way he is saying it makes it sound as if the motherboard is part of the hard drive.

cold1: your going to need to identify your components better, if I am assuming right, it looks like your trying to take the processor off of one dead motherboard and put it on another good one. Your going to have to remove the heat sink and fan assembly first, then pull the processor out, you should probably have somebody show you how if you haven't touched the internals before.
