First off, I'm only posting this because I have had many (n00bish) questions regaurding integrated graphics while using hi-res (with Rice's Video Plugin), and many people dont know that they can change the amount of ram dedicated to graphics. Changing this value can improve your performance while using hi-res. This tut is intended for semi computer literate people, so dont blam me for posting such a simple tut.

Before you change this value, make sure you have extra ram that you are willing to give up for graphics. My suggested amount is anywhere from 512mb to 1024mb.

1) (optional, suggested) First you should update the drivers for your graphics card. Although most people are opposed to doing so, it improves your overall performance when working in a windows environment, and performance in a true 3d environment isnt affected if not improved. Remember to backup, because if you arent pleased with the results you may restore your origional drivers.

2) Second, after you update your drivers, restart your computer and get into your BIOS settings. This can be done by hitting the DELETE or F1 key while your system is booting up.

3) Third, change the value of ram dedicated to graphics to its highest setting. For those of you with GeForce 4 MX, this value will be 128. (the default is 64)

It should work with AGP cards if they are running in PCI mode, good luck getting that to work (never has for me), you are probably better off not trying anyway.

You can pick up a 128 MB PCI GF FX card for cheap these days you know, or get a good AGP card if your computer has AGP.
You desktop users have almost no excuse for not upgrading the graphics in your pc, unlike us laptop users.

How much does the card you just mentioned cost? To be honest, I'm afraid of buying graphic cards for my PC due to the outrageous prices. I mean, a single card cost more than a console these days.

Terranigma, an 'integrated graphics cards' (also known as 'onboard graphics') are simply a chip built into the computer's Motherboard and generally isn't as powerful as a seperate graphics card. Because they are built in, you don't buy integrated graphics cards seperately.

edit: apologies, I misunderstood and believed you were referring to the first post, when it appears you were actually asking Bill Fleming a question.

Don't worry, a 128MB Geforce FX is peanuts. About $65.
