I can only say that all the Utopia boot disks I have work in VGA mode and in NTSC mode. If a game really doesn't want to boot with the Utopia method. If the game is 'COMPATABLE' with Chankast the only thing you need is make it bootable. I suggest doing this with Exoboot. You can find downloads in the 'GUI for selfboot' topic.
The following steps are neccesary with the latest 1.25 version:
- Mount the game image in virtual drive software.
- Copy the contents with or without any dummy.dat file to your hard drive. (like 00AA.DAT, 00AA.ECH or simular)
- In exoboot choose 'Data to CD or Image' -> Follow the steps.
Important: Do not forget 'Writer Bus ID' and 'Game Name'. You will get an error message but it will not work without. If you are using Windows 2k/XP it could be possible to copy the wnaspi32.dll from the exoboot folder and in your '\\Windows\system32\' folder. (Maybe possible you need a restart before ASPI works but I do not think so.) Use the 'burn selfbootable game in a CD-rom' or it will not work.
- Insert CD-RW and press continue.
- Let it finish untill the cd is ejected from the drive.
- Use Nero Burning Rom, CD Discjuggler or any other burning program to make an image from the cd-rom.
Important: Any direct image I made to Hard Drive with FASTBOOT, EXOBOOT, SELFBOOT, DREAMBOOT and what not else 'DID NOT' work with me. It still boots as audio and gives a corrupted unreadable DATA track. This seems to only count for users not using Deamon Tools 2.29 as there virtual drive software.
Edit
Correction: If the image is created directly and opened with Deamon Tools 2.29 they will work. Since they do not work with alcohol 120% I still advise to copy the image with your burning program to create a fresh image. That new image works with Deamon Tools and Alcohol 120%.
Hope this helps for all of you. Good luck.
