You don't use the VMS Browser to save. You only use it to manage the VMS files. You save in-game, after you've formatted the VMU in the Dreamcast BIOS (unless the VMU is already formatted).

Boot up the Dreamcast BIOS and select File. If you have an unformatted VMU plugged in, the BIOS should make note of it and ask you to format it.

You don't really. You simple make sure that in the controller plugin settings (Plugins --> Configure) there is a VMU connected to the controller. If a game tells you that the VMU is corrupted then you need to delete all of it's contents through the Dreamcast BIOS.

I think Agozer said a bit briefly, but you guys just have to spend some time fund to investigate it. Should not ask a full meal without some participating in preparing or compensation.

But allow me to describe it more. VMS you have in the chancast directory
are not formatted, and VMS browser doesnot take this responsibility. Boot
Chancast without game disc. The Bios menu will appear.
Of the four options, chooser VMS or game save, then choose the VMS.
It will say that the VMS is not formatted or has not free block.Format
it then you will have a brand new blank VMS of 200 block.

Oh, and beware to config the port A or B.The ports must have VMS or VMS LCD( abbreviations of Liquid Crystal Display). Rumble pack is what Ihave not
yet figure out.Ignore it. That the VMS or VMS LCD must be selected is the
very essence.
