How do I use Mods/ Hacks?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I downloaded some mods for Zelda OOT. The file type is .ppf But how do I use them? I can't figure it out.

Google a PPF patcher.

...OK I did and I can't find one that uses n64 files, just "CD images"
Anyone know of any that work right?
