How do I duplicate a ROM?

Hello,

I'd like to have the same ROM twice in the romlist, each entry with its own game saves and options. The reason is that my brother and I want to play the same game (Zelda Majora's Mask in this case) using save states and if we did that with the same save files, we would trash each other's saves.

I tried to just copy the ROM file, which did not work -- it just used the same save file. I also tried to change the internal name with a hex editor, which did not help either.

Copying the entire Project64 directory would probably work, but is something that I'd like to avoid.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

How about making another Rom folder and Save Folder then changing the rom and save directory everytime you or your brother play?

Use different save state slots.
Or, use different users and set save directory to each their own.

i believe you can use goodn64 to rename the roms so you can have one be zelda 1 and zelda 2

Last two suggestions will not work. PJ64 uses internal names for naming saves so filename is irrelevant (and the original poster knew this).
