Okay, i really don't know what's the problem. PJ64 isn't running well on my system. I have a Celeron 1 Ghz with 324 megs of ram and a geforce 2 MX-400 64 megs. I have win2k pro. AGP 4x is enabled and the fast writes are also enabled. I have the latest detonator drivers and the VIA drivers too.

Zelda: ocarina of time runs better on my p2 400@533 192 megs of ram and TNT2 than on my current system.

Wave race is extremely choppy and the sound is very choppy too! That also goes for both Zelda games and Perfect Dark too! I think the average fps is about 30 (which is about half of the usual!).

I really don't know what is wrong! I'm guessing it's win2k that isn't that great (i have directx 8.1)

well

just because you have a Celeron 1GHZ doesn't mean its a well performing 'gaming' machine you should have opted for a Pentium3/Athlon based system if you had the option Celeron's perform poorly in FPU calculations and their basically only for doing 'business' and not really for gaming, and you could also turn off FastWrites as not only can it have compatability issues it can also decrease performance regardless if it works, and it reduces DirectDraw quality. :hrm: and what are your Graphic Plugin settings?, and your video card settings if possible

A celerry 1 Ghz should be perfecty fine. Make sure you don't have any funky settings enabled/disabled, make sure u r uding the recompiler not the interpreter etc. etc.
Why don't you post the settings you have?

Perfectly fine?

doubt it i've done a 3dmark2k1 compare to a celery 1ghz with the same card as mine and my pc was head and shoulders above that 1ghz machine trust me they aren't meant for games, but i do agree that it should be doing 'well' in waverace64, could be something up with the way he is setting up his pc/graphics card???

sure, the old celerons suck for gaming but have you tested the Tualatin celerons? they're faster than Copp. Pentium III's (clock for clock).
i tested a Celeron 1.2ghz tualatin on my dell system and it laid waste to my Pentium4 1.5ghz system with the same video card. worked great with pj64.

I have a Celeron 850@950, 32 Mb GeForce 2Mx & Win 2k and Project 64 runs properly!
I have to limit FPS in most games as they run too fast!
Celerons 800 up have the PIII core, so they run just as fast as a P3, especially when they are overclocked, so the whole thing about Celerons being crap compared to P3 is bull shit!
Win 2k is the joise for N64 emulation as it doesn't crash!
To increase framerate use the directx 7 plugin, with T&L enabled, recompiler setting for CPU & use 16 bit textures!
Try it!

Same core maybe but less cache :p

I didnt' necessarily say that ALL celeron's are shit i just said that compared to most P3's+ they don't fair very well, and its crazy that some of you are from Australia :)

using WinXP with a celeron can slow down pj64 a bit do to its smaller L2 cache. only the newer 1.2ghz cerlerons have a bigger 256k L2 cache with a 100Mhz bus wich runs program in winXP alot faster than old celeron cpu's at 66mhz.

okay, here are my settings...

btw, i tried rebooting my computer and it helped a bit... wave race works on my computer now.. sort of, the sound is still jerky and it's not really constant. But perfect dark is still very bad.

How do we enable T&L? in pj64 or in the nvidia's setting?

roll for life
see the drop down menu on the first tab ( i think it says something like d3d Hal device, will click on the drop down, and if uhav the right gfx card, u should see soemthing that says D3D TnL Device
