What's new
  • Most issues reported these days stem from users not enabling their emulators to use the required amount of RAM.
We also tend not to use the search feature but post our issues within the texture pack release page.
Failure to load a texture pack should not be posted in the release thread unless you have already patched the emulator.

If you don't have the resources to use Large/HD texture packs please do not attempt to do so.
Users should have a minimum amount of System RAM not less then 4GB's.
If you have less then 4GB's of RAM do not post about how your emulator crashes,
RAM is dirt cheap so invest some money into your PC.

I would like to say thanks to squall_leonhart
    for posting this Solution.

HI RES not working

i'm kind of lost.
i'm trying to load high res. textures for the legend of zelda and SM64, and i've followed all the instructions so far (load hi res if available is checked).
i have rice's plugin.

however, when i try to load them, a black screen comes up with text (i'm assuming that's the textures being loaded) and then 'project 64 has stopped working' pops up.

does anybody know what to do?

Standard answer for this kind of question:
What are your system specs?
Did you try Glide64 Napalm? (Does the hi-rez texture loading work in Napalm? I never actually tested it...)

Well, your computer looks fine, it doesnt mention your video card though, try getting that information in for us.

First thing I would advise is to update your service pack, I believe there is a sp3 now.

That's XP, he is running Vista

oh, thats right, my mistake.

Well, I dont know what your problem could be. I used to have problem playing on vista as well, patching the MSV dll's seemed to fix those problems.

If your not getting MSV dll errors, update your rice video plugin, the latest is Mudlords rice video 1.4, it seems your using Rice 1.1 beta.

It's 6.14 and 6.11... I even know that, when I'm drunk... like right now!

Your graphics card and computer are a lot better than mine so that's not the problem.

Let's go step by step. How did you load the textures into PJ64? What file names have you given? You should go into 'Plugin' and create a new folder called 'hires_texture'. Then you must dump the hires files in hires_texture into specific folder names for each game.

So for LoZ:OOT, the name for the file is THE LEGEND OF ZELDA.

Don't know how clear this is but you should be able to see the extensions I've used for all my texture packs:

Plugin>hires_texture>The Legend of Zelda
and
Plugin>hires_texture>Super Mario 64

(i downloaded a high res texture pack from here http://www.tehskeen.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-738.html)

thing is, it's worked like once in the past (long while back), and hasn't worked since.

here's some pictures of my settings, if that helps (i could've messed something up, maybe?)

maybe try 1964, or see if you can find a different rom. It might be incompatible with the particular texture pack you're using.

Maybe you could try capitalizing "SUPER MARIO 64".

yeah, its capitalized already=]

i've tested almost all the roms that i have. none of them work the instant a hi-res texture comes into play (usually they freeze up and it says 'p64 has stopped working').

the texture pack is compatible with the rom, i'm 100% sure. it worked once, i just have to figure out how to get it to work again.

Probably it is your GFX driver.
Which mode do you use in rice? OGL or DX mode? I had a lot bad drivers, which ahd utter crap OGL support. Probably your DirecX is to old, too.
Download the newest redis package.
Other than that, I really dunno...
