Help With Using Usb N64 Controller

I have this

And I can't get to work on my laptop.

It has Vista, could that be what is posing the problem?

I really need help :(

I bought it for $15 dollars on amazon, and I don't want the money to go to waste.

Oh and I'm using PJ64.

I don't really know what to do with the drivers and stuff too.

You'll have to be more specific. What have you tried to do, what's going wrong, error messages, etc...? I won't rule out that Vista is the problem, but only because I have no experience with it. Assuming the thing's not simply broken (they are cheaply made after all) it should be plug-and-play with every OS from 2000 onwards, except for calibration/configuration (which you can read about here and in the emulator's user manual).

It didn't come with a manual, and the disc it came with was a floppy, and the laptop i am using doesn't work. I don't have a flash drive, so I can't get the drivers, but the first time I plugged it in it said it downloaded drivers, but nothing worked. I am using PJ64, and it won't recognize the controller.

I read through that link you gave me, and maybe it could be my controller, I have a gray one.

I don't want to spend more money on a controller though if it's not going to work anyway.

Well, it does, but it like freaks out, and when I try to configure it, it doesn't work.
It could be because of the fact that I have the gray controller, so I'll go try to see if my PS2 controller works. I just bought this so I could play my N64 games on my computer and actually have the N64 controller to play :p

So I'll try to get this to work and post about my experience.

And if anyone else has had this problem and has resolved it, I would really appreciate it, thanks :sombrero:

Doesn't matter. The problem is the pad, adapter, or the combination of the two (probably just a crummy adapter).

For what it's worth, PSX/PS2 pads don't seem to have these problems (or at least, far less frequently) and they work well with N64 games. At worst you'll have to create a few different controller configurations for different types of games, depending on what you play.

The Most likely reason is the Drivers dont support Vista as according to the goldenshop it says compatible "Windows 95, 98, ME, 2000, XP and Mac OS"
also XP drivers dont work with vista.

Well, if I got you right, then you're unable to install the driver at your laptop because it comes w/o a floppy disk drive but the driver is on a floppy disk, right?

Well here is the link to the website from which you can download your driver and test if it works with the proper driver installed (or if you're able to install it at all under Vista): http://www.goldenshop.com.hk/AI-trad/download/index.html
