I have all the files it seems I need to have (the ".bin"s), but when I first tried activating it, it said I was missing... d3d9.dll.

I did get the file, and now have it, but it now the error message reads:
The procedure entry point DdEntry10 could not be located in the dynamic link library DDRAW.dll.

Help?

Actually, that's what I did: I just downloaded the file.
But, I'm operating on Windows, and I just assumed I have DirectX (which I do).
I didn't know which version I have, so I tried downloading 9b to be sure, like it said in one of the other topics about "d3d9".
But, it didn't pass the "approval" of my Windows, and failed itself after trying to install post-decompression.
Now what?

As you can guess, I'm a complete know-nothing with fiddling about in computers.
I just REALLY want to play some video games.
I really appreciate the help from guys like you.
Tahnks for babying me with instructions so far.

Hey, last time I checked Microsoft said that there's no way to uninstall directX, that the only way to do it it's reinstalling the whole OS, also I heard that there's are utilities on the net to do it but it's not a easy thing to do... :)
Well, it doesn't matter, just try to install the directx supplied by microsoft on its web site and everything should work ok I think..

I've been using the official site to try to get 9b, and 9c, but neither finish.

The new error is:
A required cabinet file necessary for installation cannot be trusted.

GRAAAAAH!
Well, let's see how System Restore goes...

Sounds like a download was corrupted. Download and try again. The files are "signed" so that if they become modified, it can be detected.

Look, try this link http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...11-62FE-4F61-ABA1-914185249413&displaylang=en
it a direct link to the redistributable directx 9c, not that st...id online installation...
with this all the required files are always present during the installation and you can be sure that all the files in the installer are good cause all of them came in one self-extracting installer.
download it using a good download manager like GetRight, if you connect on modem that could help a lot, do not use segmented downloading, that could damage your download sometimes, not always, but I prefer to stick to the sure thing
if the link doesn't work try to look inside microsoft.com for this string "directx_9c_redist" and the link which says "DirectX 9.0c Redistributable for Software Developers - Multilingual" is the one you should look, always the first on the list.
I hope that this could help, the other alternative is to format your hellish computer :)

****!!!!!!!!!!!!
I tried the redistributable version.
It said they were untrustable AGAIN!!!!!

I have winRAR; is there anyway I could readjust the .cab files so they were in order?

Look, it seems to me that you are screw with your computer, but try this to make sure..
User WinRar to unpack the "directx_9c_redist.exe" you download from microsoft.com, if you installed winrar from the latest version available on www.rarlab.com (not the beta one for keeping the things clean) you should be able extract all the files that comes within the self-extractable installer in one directory or folder. Next, zip those files using winzip (www.winzip.com) and check that the CRC32 values for each file match with the ones that you can see in this attached picture, if they do, everything is ok and your computer is fu...ked :)
If they not, the package you downloaded is corrupted and you must download again... by the way, which OS are you using...?

If you have Windows Xp you can try upgrading to Windows XP SP2, which has DirectX 9.0c installed by default.
