MDF is Alcohol 120%'s proprietary CD image format and the MDS is like a CUE file; it contains information about the MDF image file. Daemon Tools mounts MDF/MDS files just fine; mount the MDS and play. You don't need the bootdisc unless the image you have is non-selfboot.

Well, I mounted the MDS file using Daemon Tools. Then I started up Chankast, went to options-> configure drive and selected the one I have the MDS file mounted to, and then I turned on the Capcom hack. But When I start it, I still just get the screen that says there's a music CD in the dreamcast!

Then it is quite safe to assume that the image is not selfboot. Mount the botodisc. Run it. Switch in the game disc when the bootdisc loads. Continue.

So is this the correct procedure then?

a.) Mount the boot disc, in cdi format
b.) Open Chankast
c.) Activate Capcom Hack?
d.) Make sure drive is configured
e.) File -> start, let it run for a while
f.) Right click on Daemon Tools in taskbar, unmount the boot disc image and mount the Marvel vs Capcom 2 file, in MDS format
g.) ?

Update: ^ tried it, but nothing.

At the very least, I fixed the BIOS with the help of that thread

I used WinRAR to unzip the ZIP file initially - the one you said is a container file. Then in the new folder where everything was extracted, I'm getting "mvc2.001" all the way to "mvc2.009". Each is several megabytes large, but I don't think they can be extracted further.

Here is an example of what it looks like when I unzip the container file.

The image file of MVC2 is in all those mvc2.001, mvc2.002, etc. What you wanna do is:
1. Open mvc2.001 with WinRar
2. A WinRar window should open and you should see the image
3. Extract that file
4. Load that image with Daemon
5. Open up Chankast and play! (Turn on Capcom hack)

Here are some tips on mounting an image. (I use Daemon 3.29)

1. Set number of devices to 1.
Here is an example of my virtual drive.

2. Left click on Daemon and chose the second option.

3. Load your CDI file and run Chankast. It should now play. Hope this helps.
