Help please! noob at emulators and need help

Hi everyone, im new here and just joined the emulator community.

Im using Mupen64Plus 0.3 and it runs fine, using OoT and have two problems.

1.I cant seem to get codes/gameshark activated ( Want white tunic :) )

2.i have an xbox 360 wired usb plugged in and when i first start Mupen i get an error saying "Cant find acces to (Y axis)"
and when i boot OoT it says (No Joystick/Controller found) error maybe not the exact words.

ive spent two days looking online for these answers and im a noob and dont quite understands Plug Ins/Codes.

Any help would make me so happy!

Edit: when i use Mupen64 2.0 and earlier versions my rom wonts start when i try and open it on the little beta/instruction screen. 0.3 is the only one thats worked for me

I don't know what you are using but you are not using mupen64plus. There was never a mupen64plus 0.3 and mupen64 2.0 also doesn't exist.... and mupen64plus 2.0 doesn't have a beta/instruction screen.

If you want to use mupen64plus 2.x with a gui then please download m64py from http://m64py.sourceforge.net/ . I think the windows/MacOSX versions already contain the necessary libraries. On Linux, you first need to install the current mupen64plus packages from your distribution + some python packages (python-opengl and python-qt4). If your distribution doesn't ship mupen64plus... switch the distribution or ask the maintainers to include it.

I'm guessing he's using wxMupen64plus 0.3 bundle which is quite a bit outdated, so yeah you should update, easiest way would probably be to use the suggested m64py which has kept up pretty nicely with recent developments (and ships with git snapshot builds if I'm not mistaken, so it'd be pretty recent)

thanks you guys sorry i downloaded 3 different one, and one was a bundle. i just downloaded the link and the screenshot of the interface was a lot different than what i was using. But when im opening the mupen file to launch i get this error

ugh i hate that i cant \afford a new computer due to bills and crappy job. this mac was a hand me down. i have OoT on my wii downloaded and have beaten in many many times but im doing any% runs (if anyone is on the same page with me) and save states etc would be so helpful. not to mention gameshark codes when i feel like making a file to mess around on.

this is a nightmare. i look at the screenshots and it has every spec i need/want and of course it wont open. I just have absolutely no knowledge of these error codes to know any to fix things like this..

I deleted all my .plist files in my preference folder now everytime it open it just says it closed unexpectedly. :( why cant i just get this to work..
Right now im running wxMupen64Plus the interface has a pause start and stop button at the side t runs ocarina fine but doesnt recognize my controller and i cant activate any codes.


again im sorry but ive been googling for almost 3 days..

well looks like i have to wait for my tax return to get a new computer that is NOT a mac. right now wxMupen64Plus bundle which is working but it doesnt read my xbox 360 controller and i cant get the gameshark to trigger when i use the key i bind it too.

this sucks :( going to play master quest on my keyboard i guess..

if i could just get my xbox controller to work on the version im using id be happy. do i need to download a driver or anything?

also there is a gameshark keybind under shortcut keys but wont enable? i just dont understand i cant find a straight answer for enabling cheats and getting my controller connected to wxmp64

Input (warning) no joystick/controller found? i have a 360 wired controller plugged in usb

well good news and bad news.the joystick(o) recognized my controller when i config the buttons. except for now, when i boot Oot MQ or regular OoT i get an error saying controller 1 2 3 4 not found and of course my controller doesnt work when i start but the light is on and it reads it when i set up the buttons.

any suggestions ???

Where are you setting up your buttons and what is the actual mupen64plus version you are using now (stilll the same as 0.3 bundle? which would be 1.99.5) if so, you may have to edit your mupen64plus.cfg by hand, and at least rename the AutoKeyboard string of the input section to something else, otherwise the config will be reset each time

Forget wxmupen64plus - it is buggy and dead and uses an obsolete version of mupen64plus and no one will support it/fix your problems with it

Please switch to m64py. The author already asked you to get more info. Please follow the link I gave you and talk to him. He is willing to fix your problems. http://sourceforge.net/p/m64py/tickets/9/

i feel like a jerk im sorry, Thanks you Moss. i clicked the link and then just saw the big command but i didnt know where to paste it. im just trying to learn more about all theses commands and such. im clueless and want to learn so i have somewhat of an idea of specific questions when trouble shooting emulators.

Don't tell us here that you are a jerk. Go to this bug report and communicate with them. Don't be silent or tell them something completely different. If you don't know what you should do to answer a question then ask a specific reply-question and mention what exactly you are referring to. Your current communication structure is a complete mess. Sry, it actually has no structure at all. Maybe you are only a troll.

sorry that there is no structure because i dont know what i am doing. hence why i call myself a noob and go out of my way to do so and make this thread just to play a game that i love. i've never been called a troll, that's a first. didn't have to be rude i have no basic knowledge of these things besides download, unzip or exract, and install. all i was doing was asking for help


edit: i just now beat the forest temple and i am using a keyboard. trust me it sucks and i just got introduced to how commands in terminal work. its a learning process that i have just started for me.

I've didn't call him troll but suggested that he may be one. And his actions don't disprove this theory. For example he was asked to post his terminal output when he runs m64py from the terminal. Then some confusing stuff happened and at the end the m64py maintainer gave him step by step instructions. And then he answered with "it keeps 'quitting unexpectedly' right when i it shows up on my header. i have the day off today so im determined to get this working". After asking him again to post the terminal output (and explain what "header" refers to in this context) he disappeared for over two days... and didn't report back until now.

Maybe "troll" is not the right word but I don't know the correct word for "extreme frustrating and time consuming for everyone else" actions done by him.

Maybe he fixed it/doesn't care anymore. You don't need to get ****** off, you can just ignore this thread entirely.
