HDTV becomes affordable!

Don't let people tell you CRT is dead!

Samsung have just announced that they're bringing out a 32" HDTV for £350! What a bargain!

Yes, the CTV-32Z30 is ready to show high definition broadcasts - or will be when it ships in a few months' time. It's ready to go with an HDMI connector on the back, and presumably there'll be the usual array of SCART and s-video connectors too. Samsung didn't say what the maximum resolution is, but other HD CRTs it's offered elsewhere go up to 1080i.

The CTV-32Z30 is part of Samsung's SlimFit range. The company says a 30in display will be just 40cm (16in) front to back, compared to 60cm (24in) for a conventional CRT screen.

The screen is expected in the UK in May for around £350.

I'm really impressed with Samsung. They realise that HD is happening in a big way, but not everyone can afford to lump out £800+ on a new TV.

And most say that CRT will give you better quality than LCD anyway.

I'm getting one! :)

Yep. Better view angle, no "motion blur". And not that easy to scratch too :D

That's my next TV too :)

At your service, dood!
CRT? Bleh, feck that - if I had a CRT monitor now in place of my 19" lcd... there would barely be enough room for my keyboard! with the lcd I have now, there is tons of room: my point is I absolutely hate lcd... i'd rather wait for an affordable hdtv which is like an lcd, space saving and efficient. :p

You'll be waiting a long time.

And "just 40cm (16in) front to back" isn't exactly wide now, is it?

Yep, a good CRT is a very nice thing. Until recently one of the screens in my setup was a Triniton, and anyone who's used one of those knows how good they are.

It is around R$ 1.350,00 converted directly, without taxes and all, very cheap.

Here a Soyo HDTV on our ebay correspondant is 5 grand, so if it gets here at double the price as Mire said, it will be 2.7 K, more than 2 K cheaper.

Now thats what i like a new hdtv for 350 quid thats a bargain after seeing the ludicrous pricing structures of HDTV in all the stores. Ah well it was only a matter of time especially if they wanted it to take off with the general public that doesn't give a rats arse as long as it works lol
