Graphics Cards

Irrelevant Insight
Hence, my original quote of 4800 S....E.....

In any case, whatever. Doom, the 4800SE obviously is not the latest and greatest graphics card; merely one that I feel represents good value for money. I haven't screamed at Blizz to go get a 9800 Pro or something, now have I? I am being realistic, and I do feel that the policy of waiting for price decreases in top-end cards before buying them makes sense. My spec only lists the 5900 Ultra, for example, because it came with the base. I didn't go out and buy the damned thing.

Patronise all you want, I have a valid opinion on the situation.

At your service, dood!
Get yourself a radeon 9000 or 9500, cheap, fast cards and have loads of cool features like pixel shaders, definately all the features of a geforce TI.

Hmm, you forgot one little detail. Gf ti4800se = 2 x gf4 ti4200. Meaning, it costs twice as much. And what do you out of it? Not that much I tell you. Like a mx -> ti, that's much to gain, but ti 4200 -> 4800 se....nah. That's completly stupid and unneccesary. Just costs more money.

This whole thing has just got out of hand. He said that he didn't want to spend much money on it, meaning he doesn't need the latest and the best. If he wants a good balanced value and performance card, then I'd say to go with Ti4200, or if you want the DX9 go with the FX5200, though many will say not too, it is still a decent card, and usually at a great price.

HELL YES. IT'S ME!
the only option i would concider is a ti4200. ideally, he should get an ati r9500pro, but they are practially non-existant now.
