I just installed Project 64 again after a while and it doesn't work anymore, I have Project 64 1.5 SP 1 with the RiceVideo 5.5.1 plugin
First I got a message that a dll is missing/corrupt so I redownloaded it (msvcp71.dll) and I got inside Project 64 fine

Now when I try to run a game for instance
Legend of Zelda, The - Ocarina of time (U)(V1.0) which is according to Project 64 compatible. I get the following errors

----
Can not initialize DX8, check your Direct settings
----
followed by
----
Not enough video memory.

This program will now exit.
----
next
----
Error to start Video
----
and
----

Program: C:\Program Files\Project64 v1.5\Project64.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Yes, that plugin didn't even load, (it was default in Project 64 1.5.1 SP1 and first tryd before RiceVideo)
the plugin gives these errors

----
Direct3D failed to initialize your HAL device
make sure you have a properly configured
3D graphics card compatible with Direct3D 6.0

The default or selected video plugin is missing or invalid.

Check that you have at least one compatible plugin file in your plugin folder.

Try This....

Make your setup with these plugins...it should work just fine...Try first with all defaults: if it doesnt works flawlessly, then try to change a few things around: Direc3D clear mode set on alway works, too (its in the rom settings in jabo's D3D6

I just updated to the latest catalyst driver, now the opengl doesn't reboot my system anymore, only brings me to 500+ fps then hangs project 64

Try Using the 1964 v0.9.9 emulator and see if you get the same messages (make sure you put the same plugins in the plugin folder of 1964)

I did try that, reinstalling DirectX, but it still gave the same error, reinstalled directx, removed all the Project 64 settings, reinstalled Project 64.

All results in the same errors

i got the latest ATI omega drivers, and I got the same problem as well..
I've DirectX 9.0b, pj64 says I dont even have DirectX 6....wtf...maybe the solution is to roll back the drivers?

ok..you dont need to roll back drivers.
What I did is change my desktop to 16bit, if it still doesnt work try to disable TRUFORM in ur driver Direct3D settings, or try to disable Filtering and SmoothVision

I had the same problem until I read this topic. I set my graphics to 16-bit. I attempted to play Mario Kart 64 and all I have is a black screen and with sound attempting to play, but it is very sketchy.

I assume it is because of my bad graphics and sound card. Maybe the fact I only have 300 Mhz could be included?

Oh well, I tried. :(
