Golden Toys of the 80's!!!

I was cleaning out the garage the other day when I discovered a few old toys from the 80's which I had forgotten about and had thought disappeared back into the Twilight Zone where some of them probably belonged. One toy, in particular, surprised me because not only was it in actual working condition but amazingly still good fun.

I'm talking about Radio Shack's ARMATRON, a cult toy of the 80's that was bigger than Robbie the Robot and virtually indestructable in the hands of the average twelve year old. Unfortunately, I don't have the original box or accessories which turned it into a neat game but hey, I guess I can always buy one from Ebay at a ridiculous high price.

If you were born in the 80's or even before (I am a 70's child myself) I am interested in hearing about any toys, games or collectables that you had or still have in your posession and what they meant to you.

Nah, I know little about electronics; changing batteries is as technical as it gets for me... I love to learn electronics but I won't operate on poor Armatron. There are heaps of weird mods though, check this out.

As for the other folk I too have heaps of legos consisting of space and technical. Kids today got it easy cos back then there was no Star Wars legos, now you can get everything from Harry Potter to Spiderman. I had to improvise like painting lego man's faces white for Stormtroopers and sticking those light thingies on antennas for light sabres.

I use to have an old Sega Master System (first console I owned) with light phaser gun. I traded it in for a SNES.

I don't have any Transformers but I do have the original Voltron (the one that transforms from lions to robot) with action figures.

One thing I wish I still had was my Inspector Gadget Action figure from the original series. His extendable neck got busted so I gave him away to a garage sale, other than that he was in perfect condition with gadgets gallore.

Curious on what Dr Claw's face looked like? Check this link out! If you played the SNES game you probably already know but they actually released the action figure of Dr Claw along with a disclamer!
