3 monitors doesnt realy interest me that much...what interests me is the OLED headsets that are coming around. True 3D at a cheap price, and from what I hear its like having a 22" monitor.

The next step after that would be covering your entire peripheral vision in a video game, can't do that with a monitor (unless you glue your head to it).

off-topic: 64ultramaniac, why don't you put transparancy in that black field in your avatar? It would look so much better.

seen what carmack has said about it?

he is decidedley un impressed... performs about on par with a ti4200 and is far mroe expensive, has some nice features but just not worth the money for the gamer... pay 200 less and get a 4200 not as buggy and waaaaaaaaay easier on the wallet

i dont see why people are getting hyped.. most of the cards features are for workstations and development, not gaming :p

AFAIK, the fish demo uses some DX9 effects, that none of the other cards supports... I.E, even the most high-end GF4 can`t run it...
Anyway, I think that the Parnelia is a way too overpriced card, that doesn`t really deliver. The 3 monitor support is nothing but a useless gimmick, and the DX9 support won`t be used to its full extent for at least 6 months.

Thinking the same thing.

I have owned 2 matrox cards in the past, and both promised much more than they gave, much like this parhelia card is doing. I hate matrox almost as much as I hate ATI and their deceptive benchmark cheating, as well as drivers that constantly have compatibility issues (they have a history of driver problems dating way back to the early dos days)

Only good card mfrs IMO were 3dfx and nvidia. 3DFX was good until they refused to keep up with the times (texture quality always sucked on those cards) and then started going out of the way with gimmicks (e.g. a card that was "so powerful" it needed an external power source, lmao what a joke). Nvidia simply has a sweet way of doing their drivers (who'da thought that their old riva 128 drivers are still being updated and optimized along with the new cards? excellent unified driver system), they are constantly finding new ways of improving even the old cards, probably the main reason I always buy their cards. I have yet to be dissapointed by them.

i was able to render NVIDIA's famous Wolfman demo using a 32MB geofrce2 GTS.
at default the demo will just avoid rendering any dx8 textures.
but if you check the "emulate NV25" option in the det drivers (you can do this with the geforce tweak utility under the openGL tab)
you can acculy render every texture in the demo (the fur and everything) . but it takes several minutes just to render a single frame. (works for the ChameleonGL demo too).
