ok gc kids games:

OK...

Animal Crossing

All ages.

Batman: Dark Tomorrow
Batman: Vengeance

Not familiar with the games, but don't you think there are a lot of adults who grew up with Batman who might play these?

Beach Spikers

All ages, leaning toward teens (bikini factor)

Big air freestyle

Not familiar.

Black & Bruised

That's the cel-shaded boxing game, right? I wouldn't call that "kiddy" just because it's cel-shaded.

Bomberman: Generation

No argument.

Bust a move 3000

All ages. I'd like to see younger kids make effective bank shots though...

Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of cortex - Aimed mainly for kids, but i'm a agreeing this is a good game
Disney Sports Basketball
Disney Sports Football
Disney Sports Skateboarding
Disney Sports Soccer
Disney's Magic Mirror
Disney's PK: Out of the shadows
Disney's Tarzan
Donald Duck
Dr. Muto

No argument.

Dragon's Lair 3D

It's also aimed at the adults who played the original forever and ever ago.

Egg Mania

No argument.

Extreme G 3 - Ok for all ages, but still loooks like it was aimed for kids

Um... what? I don't follow. I'd call it all ages.

Frogger Beyond
Godzilla
Harry Potter

No argument.

Home Run King

Not familiar...

Legend of Zelda - Kids game written all over it, used to love zelda 3 for Snes too

How does it have kids game written all over it? Zelda's always been an 'all ages' game. Oh, wait, I forgot, so far you consider 'Cel-shaded = kiddy'. Which is pure bullshit.

Luigis Mansion: Definatly a kids game

No argument.

Mario Party 3: Same as above

All ages.

Men In Black II: Definatly a kids game, i thought it would be a bit more adult until i played it

I'll take your word on that one. No argument.

Pacman Fever
Pacman World 2

No arugument.

Rayman 3
Rayman Arena

All ages.

Must I go on?

Seems to me you consider anything that might be cel-shaded as kiddy; also sounds like you consider anything that MIGHT be oriented towards 'anyone who might want to play it' (all ages) as being automatically 'kiddy'.

cell shading does give the look of a kiddie game though...

And as such, most adults will probably just think of it that way...

it's like how most adults don't watch cartoons, but they watch other shows... cartoons look like they were meant for younger viewers, so adults don't pay attention to it...

I'm not against cell shading (except in the Zelda case, but that's only because Link and the other characters look really really ugly) but I can understand why people would think it's for kids... because it usually is ;)

thats what i meant about zelda, it looks wayyyy too kiddie, i mean look at zelda 64... how mature does that look? Look at this, anyone would think this game is a bloody cartoon

ok, dont get me wrong, gamecube is a good console with gr8 possibilities, but theres way too many games aimed at kids and all ages, ppl look for stuff like Metal gear solid, Final Fantsy, Tekken in a game, and when theyve got pokemon or some other cartoony character in them, it puts them off (especially Adults & Teens) Most gamers are teenagers or slightly older, thats why gamecube is doing so badly, i mean if ps2 was as low price as gamecube, it would sell greatly, why? Because most of there games are serious. I used to own a gamecube, but i got rid of it due to the number of gamecube games i liked, plus the games were like £40, i'm a student for gods sake, i dont earn that sort of money

Then nintendo has done a great job, seeing as thats what they intended on doing.

come on now how can a game be "serious", games are ment to be fun, if two many games started getting "serious" I'd worry.

Soon everyone will be tired of this realism crap (oh, geez, another FPS which has blazing gfx and 35 dozens of gore spots!! musthave...now!!) and they will start making good games, which certianly isn't necessarily realistic looking. And then everyone will buy sony's cel chaded cartoony games...and noone will call them kiddy...

You get my point... :getlost:

if you people want a 'serious' game, look into the Serious Sam series for PC and Xbox. Not only is it cheap, its got swanky graphics, buckets of gore, and its serious as heck! :D

People who can't look past graphics don't deserve to be gamers. This wasn't an issue 8 years ago in the 16-Bit era when nearly all games had 'kiddy' graphics.

I might add that I hate 'serious' games in general, and prefer 'kiddy' games based on actual gameplay (whether the game is fun to play) These serious games are dead boring for me, and seeing colourful worlds with cartoony graphics is the way I like it. Super Smash Bros. Melee has cartoony graphics, but there's nothing 'kiddy' about event match 50. The only 'serious' games I've ever enjoyed were G007 and PD, not because they were 'serious' but because Rare make kick ass games. (they're with the XBox now)

Super Mario World had cartoon graphics as did SM64, and if you say that they are rubbish, then that is just plain ignorant. I could just list the ground-breaking titles Nintendo has produced over the years.

I blame it all on casual gamers who buy a game based on the back of the case.

All this Cel-Shaded Zelda bashing makes me sick. If the game had a serious look, it would not play better AT ALL. When has there been a crap Zelda on a Nintendo console? I rest my case.

Adults don't buy kiddy games? I think you'll find its the kids buying the adult games with drugs/prostitution/gore in to look cool, and the adults (like me) buy 'kiddy' Nintendo games because they play better and they were brought up with them.

And I'll never ever get a PS2. I've played Nintendo and Sega games since I was four, and no games for PS2 appeal to me in any way. Nothing.

The GC has a much more promising future Game-wise than the other consoles at the moment IMO. It's a bit disappointing having to wait ages for them, but Nintendo always delivers quality.

let the monthly console bashing begin!

just remember ET has seen many topics about which console is better and naturally a conclusion is impossible as it is all opinion based, this is just a friendly reminder to ease the bashing

Stezo2k: You keep talking about how people don't want 'kiddie' graphics. They want 'serious' games. Don't give us this shit. Who gives a crap what people want? I only care about what I'm interested in. You don't have to like the GC, but don't back up your argument by telling us what other people think.

Jaz (or whoever started the thread, i cant remember :p): get animal crossing. Possibly one of the greatest, most addictive games ever.

Screw the whole "kiddie" or non "kiddie" discussion, lets go by the game's actual quality, which is what actually matters.

Animal Crossing => never played that one, but always thought that the original was shit, and since the concept is still the same, my opinion doesn't change.
Batman: Dark Tomorrow => ok, EVERYONE knows that this game is nothing but a steaming pile of crap, and that goes for every console version of it.
Batman: Vengeance => not as crappy as the above, but boring as hell.
Beach Spikers => dunno, never played it.l
Big air freestyle => ditto.
Black & Bruised => ditto.
Bomberman: Generation => although Bomberman owns, I've never played that one, so ditto.
Bust a move 3000 => now that's a nice one.
Crash Bandicoot: Wrath of cortex => above average, although the GC has its share of far better plaftofrmers.

Disney Sports Basketball
Disney Sports Football
Disney Sports Skateboarding
Disney Sports Soccer
Disney's Magic Mirror
Disney's PK: Out of the shadows
Disney's Tarzan
Donald Duck

All of the Disney sports game are there together, because they all suck. You know I'm right. Now, there are also some Disney platformers over there, and imho Disney hasn't created a decent platformer since the good old dates of the NES Duck Tale, so my verdict is that they suck too.

Dr. Muto => cool game, although could've been better.
Dragon's Lair 3D => Look at my "game" field.
Egg Mania => SHIT.

Godzilla => if that's Destroy all monster's melee, then it rocks. Never heard of a different Godzilla game on the GC.
Harry Potter => not bad, although way too linear.
Legend of Zelda - Zelda is a niche game. I never liked that series to begin with, so the gfx mean nothing to me.
Luigis Mansion: a fishing game with ghosts, sucks.
Mario Party 3: read Zelda.

Pacman Fever
Pacman World 2

Have no idea about those two, but if they are any like the PC game "Pacman adventures in time", then they are great.

Rayman 3 => one of the sweetest platformers ever.

Rayman Arena => that on the other hand, is one of the shittiest.

This new bomberman owns. They took it back to the roots, none of this circular explosion shit they had on the N64. Only down side is I wish there were more multiplayer levels, but really, if they only included the original level, it would still have 10 hours in it.

Well they do use the 'circular explosions' for the adventure mode, which is good. But yes, the multiplayer is old-school! ^_^ Plus some new modes... (dodge battle is WAY too addictive...)

look all i tried to say is gamecube has way too many games aimed for kids, many of which i dont like, due to them being designed for kids, ok there was a quite a few snes games like this, but we all enjoyed them back then cuz we were younger, the thing that pisses me off the most is zelda for GC, i mean yeah the previous ones looked cartoony, but the game was more mature, and was gr8 to play, now look at the latest zelda, that looks a hell of a lot more for kids, even plays it, i dont mind, but i actually like zelda, and this game doesnt do it for me, neither does many other Gamecube games, thats why i aint too keen on it, the only gamecube i liked was resident evil, that was gr8 but was a bit hard, most of the rest have been ported to other consoles.
