GC Emulation in the future...

Well, how does everyone see this? I predict that it will only take a couple more years. Look at the progress that has been made so far. The only issue is speed. I also see future game systems being software for the PC, but I am crazy and live in a mental institution so...

well i see that the emu is making great progress
and "maybe" it will be fully compatible in a couple of years
but we can't forget the fact that it will need a really fast computer to run it

but i thank the dolphin team for their efforts
and hope they keep working on it

I'd bet on a full speed X-Box emu within a year or two, as that runs on what is basically a PC.

The others are going to take a while longer. Say you are getting 5fps in Dolphin now, you need to go 12x faster for full speed emulation. Say PC speed increases 2x a year, thats 6 years away.

but the speed isnt affected by only the pc perform, it envolves the emulation itself.. (at least thats what i understood until now) if u see the screenshots, the harware vary a lot, but the speed almost dont move.... but... correct me if im wrong :)

i dont see a dark future for the next gen. consoles, but i dont see a reason for full emulating by now, the consoles hav just arrived !!!! be patient, buy ur own, and enjoy in a Big Cazy and Full of Sound Effects TV !!!

Just for educational purposes, I wouldn't mind taking control of the IBM blue gene, and see how those 70 teraflops would emulate GC.

Well,Only if Cpu power is much better than the one available today and Dolphin team still progress their project,Of course GameCube might run full speed in a couple of years....But why dont u buy real GameCube/Nintendo Rev instead of wasting time and money on Cpu/VGA.

ohohohohoho... I'm sorry but I just had to reply to this. The speed of a processor doesn't double every year. The speed of processors double every 18 months, and where we're trying to get to is about 3 or four cycles, so technically it would be... let's see *opens calc.exe from the run window*...
let's see, 18 months per cycle times 4 cycles, divide by 12 to get total in years... 6 years, so I have to say Kolano is right on the year, but not the doubling time-length. HAHAHAHAHAHA, sorry about this people; but hey, it's better to inform people than to leave them be with misinformation.

plus, even if we had these fast computers, they would be useless with the emulator in it's current state. there are still many bugs and emulation is far from perfect

Not to mention, the theory of PC power doubling every 18 months (I can't recall the name of this theory, I think it's Darwin's theory), is for the first time, not following the pattern it was once on. That's right, I've read in MANY places that the evolution in power in PC's has slowed down, and that we may for the first time ever, see a time lapse where this theory will not hold true.

"Moore's law"

Gordon Moore made his famous observation in 1965, just four years after the first planar integrated circuit was discovered. The press called it "Moore's Law" and the name has stuck. In his original paper(ftp://download.intel.com/research/silicon/moorespaper.pdf), Moore observed an exponential growth in the number of transistors per integrated circuit and predicted that this trend would continue.

That's right. It's been a long time since I got back to basics. Anyways, perhaps you've heard of this news too. Seems like shaky ground for the PC biz.

I think you just went and proved Darwin and his real theory wrong :p
