Gamecube Controller to PC

I've seen articles that explained how to take a snes controller and attach the male plug to the contoller by splicing the wires. Thus have a SNES controller you could play with either ROMs or just regullar pc games. I just want to know if this is possible with the gamecube controller. if it is possible, please throw some links this way. Thanks
